I bought this mainly based on price and with that in mind it has been everything I expected. It is easy to set up and it included the apps I use the most. I've had problems with Sony Blu-Ray players in the past - they didn't last very long - but so far this one is fine, nothing to complain about.

As long as you understand what you are getting with the Solo 5 you'll be happy with it. It is not like most soundbars, it does not even try to mimic Surround Sound and it doesn't have subwoofer to deliver a lot of bass. What it does is improve upon your TVs speakers and make voices much easier to understand. For me this was a big plus. It can also be used as a a Bluetooth speaker for music which I find convenient.
However the best thing about the Solo 5 is the Universal remote that comes with it. It is the best I ever had, it even works with my TiVo. What makes it so good is it has a lot of selections so it will do more than adjust the volume on your TV, it makes it easy to open the TV menu because it has dedicated menu button.
If you like Bose speakers, which never produce a lot of bass, you'll be happy with the Solo system. The high quality remote is an added plus.

Very good Turntable for the Money

I bought the Sony turntable a couple of months ago and so far I am completely satisfied with it. I'm not saying there aren't better turntables out there but for $130 dollars (give or take) this is hard to beat. Note, I haven't used the software, I am just using the turntable to play my old records from college.

I purchased the Sport Clip for my daughter as a replacement for her aging iPod Nano. It was a mistake. The Sport Clip will not interface with iTunes so you have to use different software.
Her biggest complaint was the screen quality. Playlist titles are hard to read. Also the controls, and the product itself, seemed cheap and flimsy.
The only thing that impressed her were the ear buds. They were very comfortable.
The Sport Clip sound quality was fine, but it's user interface so poor that she told me to take it back, she would rather limp along with her old iPad Nano until she can afford a new Nano or iTouch.

Does this have a remote for wireless... can a cabinet door be closed on this and will it still receive wifi?
It has a remote, but it will not work thru a cabinet door. However, the Wifi will work through a closed door.

can you connect it to speakers?
All it has is a coaxial digital output, no RCA type plugs or fiber optic cable output. It does not have a headphone jack.

Hi, what cables do I need to purchase when buying this player? I assume a regular HDMI cable. How about the sound/picture cables- you know the ones that come with the red, yellow, white on them? Thanks
it only has an HDMI output and a coaxial digital audio output. It has an Ethernet jack and that is it. No other cables can be used.

Does the dust cover fit over the record while being played?
While in use, does the dust cover have to remain up? Or is the platform large enough for the dust cover to be closed while in play?
Yes, you can play records with the dustcover closed. I do it all the time.

Can the turntable be plugged into computer speakers? If so, how?
I purchased Bose computer speakers with the turntable at Best Buy. I was told I could plug the turnable directly into the speakers. I am unable to get it to work.....can't figure out how to plug in. P.S. I am totally a novice at this stuff.
They have to be self-powered speakers (like the Bose Companion speakers) for what you described to work. Self-powered speakers have the audio amplifier built in. If you don't have self-powered speakers (like the Bose 201s or 301s) you need to plug the turntable into a stereo receiver and then connect your speakers to the receiver. The good news is your receiver doesn't need a Phono input, an Aux input will do. This is because the Sony turntable has a built-in preamp.

How do I connect the turntable to bose computer speakers? The plugs aren't right. I don't understand...help.
You should be able to buy an adapter cable to make the connection from your turntable to the Bose speakers. If you can, take a picture of the back of your speakers to Best Buy or Radio Shack, so they can see what kind of audio input(s) you have. They should be able to sell you the adapter cable you need.

Can I use this turntable with a Mac and a Bose wave radio?
Because the Sony turntable doesn't require a pre-amp you should be able to use it with the Bose radio. I have used mine with Bose Companion II self-powered speakers, they didn't get very loud but they had enough volume that I could enjoy my old 33s. I don't know what kind of Aux input the Bose radio has these days so you may need to buy an adapter.

Plate seems to wobble up and down slightly when spinning, even with no album
Is it normal for the plate to wobble on rotation? I just bought it for x-mas and I thought it might be the albums but when I spin it with no album and without the rubber cover, the aluminum plat still seems to go up and down on rotation.
The platter on my turntable doesn't wobble. I don't think the platter on any turntable should ever wobble.
