This film was not well received in some circles upon its initial release due to the political climate of the day. This film was not one of Steven Spielberg's more successful ventures, even with good reviews from most critics. Terrorism was present back in the 1970s and it is still present today and will unfortunately continue into the future. This is a fictional account of the 1972 Summer Olympic killings of the Israel national team and Israel's quest to hunt down the killers and those behind the killings. This film shows the price of vengeance that has to be paid and the heavy toll taken on the people in charge of pursuing those responsible for the murders. This Blu-ray is a Best Buy exclusive. The Blu-ray AV quality is excellent.

Back in the early 1980s computer use was in its evolving years, even by the military. When a young computer nerd wants to be entertained by playing what he thinks at the time is only a game everything starts to go terribly wrong. Could the unthinkable possibly happen, can WW III be averted? This is a very enjoyable film from the aspect of how humor is injected into the various goings ons of what is otherwise a very stressful time for everyone concerned. The different cast members put together for this film are perfect in their roles. The Blu-ray AV quality for a 1980s film is extremely strong.

Everyone by now knows the story of Mad Max so this review will only discuss the film's technical merits of this most recent release. The video has been remastered from its initial Blu-ray release but the improvements seem to be slight. However, the audio is now loseless and is a definite improvement over the previous release. The low end bass is now substantial. For the new audio alone, if you own the initial release, a decision will need to be made if that is enough reason to justify another purchase. If you do not own this movie already then by all means go get it.

Many problems beset the human race but when these problems are unseen and unknown, the existence of mankind is at risk. Other more recent films have explored the threat of an unknown virus but this 1970s film's virus was from outer space. Space exploration always posed a threat that a mission might bring back something dangerous to earth. Later in the film the virus is speculated, by the paranoia starting to grip the scientific experts, to be man made by the military for use in germ warfare, however, this conjecture is never proven. At near the end of the film a wrong turn is taken by the scientists to totally eliminate the virus (and themselves) by blowing up the test facility, which was a mistake that can only be corrected by one man. In the end planet earth and mankind is saved again. Robert Wise skillfully directed this early attempt to explore this subject. The technology is dated by today's standards, but since this film was made in the 1970s this is understandable. Give this film a chance, you will not be disappointed. This Blu-ray is a Best Buy exclusive, The Blu-ray AV quality is consistent with films of this time period.

You Killed My Dog

One of the surprise movies of last year, this entertaining revenge movie provided excellent character development for a man in pain trying to walk away from his previous life and begin anew. Unfortunately for the bad guys, in this case the Russian mob, they chose the wrong guy to mess with. The action and especially the fight scenes are incredible thru out the movie. Keanu Reeves gives a come back action performance worth watching. Also, a new movie franchise has begun. The Blu-ray AV quality and the supplemental package are excellent.

American soldiers of the Korean War are fighting in a no win situation against all odds on the real battlefield of life and death for this no nothing hill. While the soldiers from both sides are being used as pawns in a political chess game. Gregory Peck and the full cast provide excellent performances in this gritty and realistic war drama. For a black and white film of this vintage the Blu-ray AV quality is very strong.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about the movie until I watched it. This big budget action movie is really not that bad given the state of movie making now days. Give this film a chance. A look at baseball behind the scenes instead of on the field makes for a very entertaining film for baseball fans and so-so baseball fans alike. Statistics are used in a new and different way to help build a small market team against the established big boys of the sport. The field manager of the team is not convinced that this new way of building a baseball team will work. For the results you will have to watch the movie. The Blu-ray AV quality is excellent. The extras offer up some interesting supplements.
