It's a beautiful piece of technology, I wish the functionality was just as beautiful. Without a case, the phone is very slippery and due to the size, somewhat unwieldy. The OS is looks nice and is intuitive.

Three stars for the film, which finishes the series in a beautifully somber way. The Steelbook's has a beautiful matte finish and is a great companion to the other Hunger Games' Steelbooks.
Neil Blomkamp films have a very distinct look and feel. They exist in worlds that feel real, but rundown - filled with grunge and urban sprawl. They usually revolve around some kind of political message. District 9 was about apartheid, Elysium is about immigration reform. This time, however, the analogy doesn't really hold-up.
The dialog is on-the-nose and the film tells you how you should feel, rather than the audience being allowed to develop those feelings themselves. This is probably due to the fact that, unlike apartheid, immigration reform isn't a black-and-white issue. It's complicated. Unfortunately, the characters are not. Elysium people are snobish and evil and the poor masses on Earth are humble and meek.
The movie is great to look at, though. Blomkamp certainly has a visual and aesthetic flair. His world building abilities are to be admired.
Blu-ray looks great and sounds great, as any newer movie will on this format.
This movie got slaughtered by critics upon release, but the reality is the movie's not that bad. When it was released I think that public perseption of both Will Smith and M. Night was negative, and this reflected on the film's perception as a whole.
The truth is this is a cool and orignal sci-fi film, a rarity among all the remakes and sequels of the day. It's really a film about a father and son coping with the loss of a daughter and sibling. The father and son are then thrown into a dangerous situation and must find a way to survive and seek aid. Along the way they bridge the gulf that was created by their mutual loss of a family member.
The movie also offers a creative look at an Earth that has been free of humans for thousands of years. New speicies of animals and plants have evolved and the planet is now a death-trap for humans. The special effects are solid.
The Blu-ray is top notch for sound and video. I haven't really explored the special features.
