A must add on for the Bose Soundtouch 300 soundbar
on October 18, 2016
Posted by: Nate34
Just a word of caution the box is pretty heavy, and Bose made it a little easier to unbox by adding pull tabs to get the speaker out. This makes it easier as well as helps avoiding dropping it. It weighs over 30 pounds. But with the pull tabs I was able to get the speaker out without any help. But just wanted to let you know its pretty heavy.
Anyway to start the set up on the subwoofer was very easy. You can get up and going in less than 5 minutes. Just plug in the power cord. Then on the remote for the Soundtouch soundbar press the pairing button, then press and hold the #7 until the connectivity indicator on the soundbar blinks white. It will then emit a tone telling you its paired. You then have control over the subwoofers output via the remote. It has 5 settings from -2 to +2. Once its paired and set you'll know.
The Bass from this subwoofer is perfect. Its what I call clean bass. It has tight clean lows without going overboard. Whether you are listening to a movie, or music it sounds awesome. If you want to improve the already amazing sound of the Bose Soundtouch soundbar the Acoustimass Bass Module is a must. The incredibly easy connection and amazing sound makes this an awesome addition to your home theater set up. Bose really knocked it out of the park with this system. Highly recommended.

The SoundTouch® 300 soundbar looks slim. But the sound? Anything but. That’s because every cubic inch of it is packed with technologies that make everything you listen to or watch sound clear and spacious. It starts inside with custom-shaped speakers that keep the profile low and pump out big sound. QuietPort™ technology virtually eliminates distortion so you hear surprisingly deep bass. And Bose® PhaseGuide® technology makes you believe you’re hearing sounds where there are no speakers. On the outside, the glass top and perforated wrap-around metal grille make the soundbar look as good in your room as it sounds. And with both Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi® technology built in, you can wirelessly stream music any way you prefer. ADAPTiQ® audio room calibration from Bose ensures the soundbar sounds the best it can in the space you put it. HDMI™ connectivity with 4K pass-through keeps your system compatible with the most current technology. NFC provides quick and easy pairing. The SoundTouch® app gives you simple control over your favorite music. Works together with other SoundTouch® speakers so as you go from room to room, your music goes along with you. Includes a universal remote so you can control your other devices, too. Available in Black

Awesome sound period

Bose deserves its reputation for amazing sound. And this product proves it for me. But to begin Ill start with the set up.
This was extremely easy to set up. Plug in the power cord. For the sound connection you have 2 options, HDMI, or optical. They recommend HDMI if you have a port that supports “ARC”, which is Audio Return Channel. So I connected the HDMI cable to my Samsung TV's HDMI ARC port. Put the included AAA batteries into the remote, and turn your TV on. In the guide it says to turn on HDMI CEC so I did and immediately got sound from the soundbar. Once you have sound the next step is using the “Adaptiq” headset for audio calibration. So I connected the headset and chose English for the language and was ready to do the calibration. It then tells you audibly to sit at 5 locations where someone would normally sit for TV watching. This calibrates the soundbar for the best sound for those locations. Ive never had something like that before and thought it was pretty cool. After this you are all set up and ready to go. Just to add some people like to also have their TV speakers going along with the soundbar and for me this was easy. I just chose the TV speakers as the output and was able to get sound from my TV and the Bose.
After reading the guide a little more I decided to try out another connection type. So I tried to connect to my TV via Bluetooth and had no issues at all. I pressed the Bluetooth button on the remote and then did a search on my TV for Bluetooth audio devices and saw the Bose Soundtouch as an available device. It connected with no issue at all. So if you dont want to connect via HDMI or optical this is another option.
But of course you cant talk about a Bose device without talking about the sound. I also have the Bose Acoustimass Bass module, but I tested out the sound on the soundbar alone at first. I watched some Netflix, and listened to some music and was very impressed. Even without the Bass module it had good bass, and very clean and clear sound. Its really amazing how much sound can come from this. Bose really does deserve its reputation for amazing sound and devices.
It also comes with a very nice universal remote that has several functions and the ability to control multiple devices. If you are looking for a soundbar system look no further. The Bose Soundtouch 300 is a must to add to your Home theater set up.

Good Tablet for a great price
on October 12, 2016

To start Ill just give a basic description of the tablet. It has dual front facing stereo speakers. On the top it has a USB port and an SD card slot. They are covered by a plastic cover. Also on top is the volume rocker. On the left side there is another USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also has front and rear cameras. The rear camera has no flash, but lets face it who uses their tablet as their go to camera. But the front camera works as a chat cam. It has a quadcore MediaTek Cortex A53 1.3 Ghz processor, 1gb of DDR3 ram, 32gb of flash internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, multi touch 1280x800 resolution screen, and a 6100 mah battery. That pretty much covers the hardware.
The set up was pretty straight forward for an Android device. Mine had Android 6.0 installed already. While setting it up I had the choice to restore apps and data from my Galaxy S7's backup. But I decided to just start from scratch. After the initial set up I decided I wanted to increase the storage so I installed a 64gb SD card. With Android 6.0 you get 2 choices of how you want to use your SD card. You can choose to use it as a portable card, or as additional internal storage. Since it only has 32gb (less actually available) of internal storage I chose the additional internal storage. This took several minutes and was at 20% for quite awhile. But when it eventually finished I had 82gb left after installing a few apps, which is great. So if you plan on installing a lot of apps or games you might want to get a micro sd card for it. It comes with all your basics like Google apps, and several Acer apps. But of course you have the Play store to install apps and games.
As far as performance it does pretty good. But isnt as snappy as most recent devices that have octacore processors. It lags a bit when it has multiple processes going at once. I thought the front facing speakers would sound good since there are 2, but I would only call them average, not very loud even at full volume. But for what this tablet costs you cant really expect amazing sound. It browses the web well using the pre-installed Google Chrome browser, and loaded pages fairly quickly. The screen looks great and crisp despite only being 1280x800 resolution. No problems reading text, or anything like that.
Overall this Acer Tablet does all your basics and does them fairly well. If you are looking for a tablet for basics like simple games, browsing, etc. you cant go wrong at this price. Thanks for reading.

A lot in a little

Bose is well known for their amazing audio, and its a well deserved reputation. Every Bose device I have ever used has had great audio, and this little device is no exception to that.
The set up for this device couldnt be easier. Theres only 2 things in the box. The speaker and a USB cable. Plug the USB into any powered USB source and it will start charging. When it is first turned on it will give you the current status of the battery. In my case it said “Battery High, ready to pair”. So I grabbed my Galaxy S7 and turned on Bluetooth. I saw the Bose Soundlink in the available devices and tried to pair. At first my S7 was saying “Cant communicate with Bose Soundlink”, so it knew what device I was trying to connect to, but didnt pair at first. I tried 2 more times and on the 3rd try it paired and connected. This only happened the first time and since then it has paired instantly with my S7. When it pairs the device tells you “paired with Galaxy S7”, which is nice having an actual voice system in it. But if you dont want the voice this can be disabled. I also was able to pair it to my laptop and it stayed paired to my S7 as well. Its listed as being able to keep track of 8 devices.
I was also able to connect my S7 via NFC with a quick tap to the top of the speaker. It connected instantly and was ready to go. So this is another easy way to connect your device if it is NFC capable.
The device has a 6 button system on top. And on the side is the USB port and an 3.5mm AUX port, but does not come with a 3.5mm cable. But I had one and it connected to my S7 easily. Each button has an associated LED above it.
Button 1) Power: Green = Medium to full charge level, Blinking amber = charging, Solid Amber = Medium charge, Blinking Red = Needs charge
Button 2) Bluetooth: Blinking Blue = Ready to pair, Blinking White = Connecting, Solid White = Connected
Button 3) Input Indicator: Solid white = System is ready to play content from a device
Button 4) Volume Down
Button 5) Multi Function Button which does several different things for example, Play, Pause, Skip forward, Skip backward. It also controls the speakerphone when making calls.
Button 6) Volume Up
The device comes in different colors. I have the Blue one. Its very small so it can be put anywhere. The dimensions are 5.25” H x 5” W x 2.25” D, and weighs 1.2lbs. But despite being small it packs quite a punch with the sound. I was most surprised by the Bass. Not sure what magic Bose does getting such a small device to hit the lows very well. And of course highs and mids sound great. And the sound is very well balanced.
So to summarize this is a great little device, with great Bose sound, ease of connectivity, and looks pretty cool also. If your in the market for a Bluetooth speaker you cant go wrong with Bose. Thanks for reading!
