Great picture, but the Smart Hub/Internet (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) is very slow to start up. I generally turn the tv on and then wait a few minutes and then try a couple times and then it works. Once it is connected it works fine.

Will this 2016 model streaming stick work on hdtv that is not a smart tv?
Yes. The Stick is the smart part, for the exact reason you highlight, it turns any tv into a smart one for streaming. You just need an open HDMI port and somewhere to plug in the power. Either a USB port on the TV or a wall outlet with provided plug.

Would I be able to pickup signal of local TV, and get to watch regular over the air programing, say like the upcoming Olympics, or "The Voice' and so on.
No you would need an HD antenna for local tv. Roku will not pick them up as it is not an antenna, just a streaming box, for cable type channels. See two different antennas below. I highly recommend an amplified one for best reception.

I just got a Roku2 as a gift. I have to plug it into my wifi and tv. I'm thinking of changing it for a Roku stick because of all the wires,is the stick something that plugs into wifi or just the stick for the tv?
Both the Roku 2 and the Roku Streaming Stick use WiFi, so you don't have to plug them physically into your router. The stick plugs directly to an HDMI port on the back of the TV (so concealed) and then needs power (either via USB on TV or USB cord to an outlet with provided plug) so technically it would be one less wire since you would need a longer HDMI cable for the Roku 2. Both work equally as well, the Roku 2 may be a little faster connecting though. I have both and use a stick for the smaller TV in the bedroom and a Roku 2 on the main tv with entertainment center.

Can I share the live video with say a dozen people? AND... can I later restrict their access to the video? I'm looking at using this to monitor a litter of puppies and want to share with perspective Puppy buyers but would want to restrict access later.
Yes you should be able to. There is a setting for public or private. Then they would just need a link to that camera. When you are done just set it back to private.

Yes as near real-time as it gets not counting the one second lag for the network to send it to your device.

How are these speakers powered? And how long will they play on a single charge?
They are powered through a cord so there is no battery, you will need an outlet.
