I love the music that Kyuss has made and Vista Chino has delivered in bringing back this fantastic band. Every song sounds fresh, the lyrics are great and thought-provoking, John Garcia's voice is as powerful, as ever, and the instrumentation is awesome. They outdid themselves. I love every song on here. John Garcia's voice rips though each song even though he is older, his voice has held up. Nick Oliveri did some heavy bass on here, even though live they now have Corrosion of Conformity's bassist Mike Dean. Brant Bjork's drumming is intense and dynamic. Now, Bruno Fevery, their new guitarist, has riffs, that desert tone, and solos. He doesn't try to overpower the other members. This album was clearly an attempt to work together to let everyone shine. It's a great start to this bands sound. It sounds different than Kyuss is some ways too. Distinguishes itself from their earlier works. I think they achieved this. I would recommend this to any rock, metal, and desert rock fan! Enjoy. Play it loud!
What's great about it: Fresh Desert Rock for anyone to get into Kyuss/Vista Chino
What's not so great: Not many extras in Digipak, not really a big problem though
Purson is a heavy metal band that borders on doom metal. This album was psychedelic ride. The guitar riffs are heavy, the drums and bass plod along well, while the keyboards hover over all. Rosalie's voice echoes all over the place and her song writing is very impressive for Purson's debut. If you need comparisons, Puson's sound is very Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, and Led Zeppelin sounding. The songs go light then Heavy nearly every song for a varied experience. At first listening you may bob your head but, after a few more listens you'll hear all the parts and compositions on this original and genuine album and bang your head all the way through. I can't wait for their next release.
What's great about it: Original and Exciting Songs with Varied Intensities
What's not so great: Could have more of the heavier songs but, this is a personal preference
Frank Zappa'a most successful album, and with good reason. The first four songs deliver a fun, yet astounding ensemble of sound right in your ear. I recommend taking a listen to the whole album all at once, but if your want instant Zappa, dive into "Cosmik Debris" and "Apostrophe."
What's great about it: The composition, his guitar work, lyrics, and singing
