This is the 3rd or 4th phone I have had an otterbox case for and they never fail. They protect the phone from everything, seriously everything but complete submersion. I have already accidentally dropped my m9 from the 4th floor stairwell and work and it has not missed a beat sense. The only real drawback is the open screen protector around the speakers, as dirt and stuff occasionally sneaks way in there would be cool if they did the plastic around like with the Droid DNA.

not so great with otterbox

The screen protector itself id amazing and overall preserves the image of the screen and is probably the clearest cleanest screen protector I have ever had but it is a little tricky to use the phone with it in the otterbox the touch settings seem to get a little bi-polar sometimes being overly sensitive and other times wanting incredible force. Not enough to be burdensome but just slightly annoying. I did also have the One Max before which had a bigger screen than the size of the whole m9 so could also be user error.

I have literally had every HTC phone Verizon has ever carried and each has just gotten progressively better and better. I love the simpleness of the Sense engine and its easy integration into android much more stable platform then having to build hybrid components in ASOP. Overall just great a phone the move from Beats to Dolby was one of the best calls HTC has ever made. I charge my m9 every other day and the rapid charge normally works in about an hour. Best phones ever.

It will be locked for Sprint only activation. It is a multiband phone and will work on both CDMA and GSM. If you are travelling a lot, your best bet will be to buy an unlocked HTC One m9 directly from HTC.

Why does my phone not work in the United Kingdom
I recently bought a HTC Desire 510 whilst in the USA from Bestbuy , althought I never registered it in the usa, on my return to the UK , I now find that the phone will not work. How can I get the phone to work in the UK.
Your phone is locked for activation and will only activate on the American Sprint network. If you call Sprint and explain the circumstance, they may be able to unlock the phone for use on any network but they may not be willing to do this.

it says unactivated. does that mean it is unlocked to international gsm networks?

No. Unactivated means the phone is sold to you by Best Buy without your phone number actually being activated in it you would either need to call Verizon or go into the store to activate it. Verizon typically does not unlock phones. If you are a long time customer and do a lot of international traveling they will be more inclined to possibly do this for you but are much more likely to try to get you to pay to use a sister network like Vodaphone for increased cost. If you want a truly unlocked phone your best bet is to buy direct from Samsung, but Verizon pretty much has that same policy in reverse. My account came from an Air Touch account (so over 25yrs of service) and the only time I was ever able to have any of my phones unlocked at my request was when I was active duty Army and requested the unlock for a deployment.

WiFi - Connecting the HTC Desire 510 to my home internet
I've just bought the HTC 510 phone. When I select my home internet network from my HTC 510, I'm prompted for the network secure password, I enter the password, however I still receive an Authentication error...... I'm using the netowrk for my laptop with no issues.....!
Do you have an answer for this issue?
If I can't resolve it I will have to return the phone....

If your home router has the option I would give the connect through WPS (push button) a chance. From your phone go to settings and tap into the wifi and networks menu (the label, not the on/off toggle) then press the menu button once the networks start to display from there select Connect through WPS (might be Connect using) then it should give a prompt with a timer for 30-90 seconds once this comes up press the button on with the two arrows on the front of your router and the two should find each other and connect without the password.

Is this phone waterproof?
Yes, but only submerged in up to 3feet of water for 30 minutes and this is still not a recommended activity. My buddy was given one from his work and we've been using it and the UE Boom at the river all summer and have not had any issues with either getting splashed or even dropped in the water.

when bought at best buy does it come with the $100 google play card or uh oh plan
Verizon has a promotion going for this plan. Are there any for this phone?
Yes, I just submitted my receipt for the $100 Google credit and per the rep I spoke with on the phone (missed a digit entering my IMEI on the website) said Best Buy was an approved retailer. As for the Uh Oh plan HTC is doing this with all of their new phones. It is pretty cool being able to go through them to get your screen fixed or phone replaced for water damage without an insurance claim, but it does not cover lost or stolen phones. I also have no idea how quickly they can do the replacements but still pretty revolutionary idea.
