Nice fridge with limitations

We replaced a big 19-year-old cabinet-depth Sub Zero 590 with this cabinet-depth Samsung four-door fridge. Warning: when the Best Buy guys arrived with our new Samsung, they said that despite the contract agreement to remove our old fridge, they wouldn't tackle our Sub Zero. So we had two huge refrigerators in our kitchen for 10 days until Chris, our local store manager, and a separate Best Buy delivery crew, confirmed that they would absolutely honor their contract. Two great guys came to the house and hauled our old fridge to recycling, and put this new one in place. Big props to them. We soon recognized we'd also need to upsize our nearby porch freezer to accommodate frozen foods. This fridge has much to recommend, including the built-in Soda Stream system, quiet and efficient motor/compressor operation, LED light strips and fridge-to-freezer convertible lower right compartment. Downside: though the fridge motors are quiet, the icemaker "plops" its results way too proudly, noisily cracking into any surrounding conversation. And the resulting ice is wimpy -- wet, porous, cloudy -- downright embarrassing for use in drinks for friends. We've also run out of ice a few times during the two months we've had this fridge, because the icemaker has limited production and storage. One couple visiting can deplete the ice by the end of the evening. If you entertain, you might want to buy or store some ice elsewhere, in advance. The through-the-door water dispenser is also wimpy. It now takes us about twice as long to fill a glass of ice water from the external door dispenser. We'd read about these concerns before buying, but decided to take our chances. However, we too find them slightly annoying as we live with this fridge. Not a deal breaker, but issues Samsung engineers/designers could improve. They could/should improve water flow, for instance, by using larger hoses and filters on future versions. Our cabinet-depth requirement also left us no choice but to use the lower-right "convertible" compartment as fridge space. That meant we had to buy a bigger, separate, freezer to replace our 19-year-old porch freezer. That switch was due anyway, right? Even so, something's goofy about this fridge design/layout. We're finding that we need to change our shopping habits simply to accommodate this fridge. It'll accommodate one gallon of milk on the door shelf, for example. But when that milk runs low, and we need to get another, and store it until the original is empty, it's a hassle to make space for the "second" gallon. The shelves of this fridge can flip and slide and look good in the showroom, but in real-world use, they are not well designed for taller items like milk by the gallon or many white wine or champagne bottles or other things that need height. So far, we’ve managed to shuffle things around and make it work. But it’s not yet worthy of a “Chef’s Collection” moniker. Or five stars. Even so, we feel that this fridge may be the best option for us, and for many. It has a lot of excellent features: Two compressors; Energy efficiency; Quiet running (except for that goofy ice droppage that creates the occasional “Bang!”); Soda Stream and ice and water through-the-door capabilities (despite the fact that both the ice and the water production are wimpy); Interesting/useful readouts of temps etc. on the doors. And even though we can’t use magnets on the doors (no more grandbaby’s pix there), we can still put them on the sides, which will also hold necessities such as calendars, bottle openers etc. Overall, this is a nice, albeit expensive product, which Samsung could turn into a great product if the company would be willing to confront, and tweak, its limitations.
