f/2.8. f/1.8 or f/1.4 maximum aperture lens?
I've read that by limiting lenses to any of these maximum apertures, a person will be most happy and not have to lug around heavy lenses.
Any thoughts on this? I am new to DSLR cameras- have always had Nikon's however. My current camera is a super zoom Nikon P510; 16.1 MP and 42X zoom, HD 1080 video. I have been really happy with this camera and am also wondering if I would like changing lenses all the time.
Any help would be appreciated!
Actually, you won't have to change lenses all the time. With the 3100 DSLR and its basic 18-55mm lens, you have everything from macro to infinity available. This lens is perfect for most photographic needs, whether taking pictures of insects on plants or Junior's birthday party. When you want to get closer to the subject, or bring in something farther away, switch to the 55-200mm lens. Swap out is easy and takes only moments. My wife recently purchased this same Nikon package and she is a novice when it comes to SLR cameras. Yet, she is having great fun experimenting with various shooting modes and focal lengths. The really nice thing about the DSLR is its digital - instant feedback! If you don't like the picture, dump it and try another setting. So much better than using 35mm film, which is what I learned to use. Although I had a good quality Nikon with similar lenses, I never knew how my photos would come out. With the D3100, you know immediately if the picture is what you wanted. Great product, vivid pictures. Just don't bump it too hard. Unlike my old 35mm Nikon which had an aluminum body and was pretty rugged, this new model has more plastic in it. It's still a good camera - just not "war zone" quality.
