Some really good tunes, some less so

Setting aside the acoustic TS remake, I found it hard to get into the new material here from Dee, and that's coming from a longtime SMF who actually fully enjoyed his solo Broadway tunes project (saw it live, to boot). Decent cover of NIN's "Head Like a Hole," but the material is a little uneven. Doesn't include what is now a one-off rock tune that he did a couple of years ago. This album is only for die-hards; I hope this wasn't the impetus for retiring TS.

Really good album

While some material sounds familiar, I think it's in part due to A7X having developed a "sound." Of course, you can hear some influences mixed in as well, but I think the band has really grown to a point where they are providing what their fan base expects, ,which can't really be said for a lot of artists (Metallica fans are still waiting for a full return to their early thrash records). I fully recommend this album.

Long term fans will like the return to their classic sound and song structure... the Uno, Dos, Tre albums were a little more experimental, probably off-putting some fans (I enjoyed bits and pieces of those albums). Don't know if current radio still considers them relevant enough for airplay, but the songs are definitely on that level.
