Incredibly Good Headset for Samsung Users
on January 22, 2016

I've had a number of headsets in my time. I've had the LG Tone Pro, the Samsung Gear Circle, and the regular Level U for in-ear listening. I've also had a pair of Beats Solo, the Samsung Level Over headset, and the Bose QuietComfort 2. This headset absolutely destroys them all in sound quality.
First, a caveat: This headset can work with anything but to be honest, it's designed for Samsung products due to two things: The Samsung Level app that it uses, and the fact that the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ are the only headphones that can take advantage of what's called the UHQA (Ultra High Quality Audio) technology for true 24-bit audio. Why is that, you ask? Honestly, I think it's because the latter two phones have Bluetooth 4.2 and the previous models such as the Galaxy S6 only have Bluetooth 4.1 so there's that. Or it could be planned obselescence, which also wouldn't surprise me. Regardless! Back to the sound quality.
The sound quality is, simply put, incredible. It's hard to describe sound quality in words but I think the phrase "It sounds wider, more full, and more rich" is the best that I can use. The UHQA, when enabled, really makes the sound seem as though it's much more dynamic as though you're really there inside a concert hall. The bass sounds incredible and it can even be enhanced through a preset in the Samsung Level app (so can everything, it even has an equalizer so you can individually tune it). I have a FLAC version of Adele's "Hello" that I use to test various headphones and this is the very first time that a headset hasn't distorted, warped, or downgraded the bass when the music rises. I read some reviews which said that the headphones aren't very loud but trust me when I say that they're completely incorrect - these can be VERY LOUD. You won't have a hard time hearing them in the noisiest of environments. Anyway, the sound is the best I've heard on any headset I've ever tried or owned so long as you have the Note 5 or S6 Edge+. If you don't own those, I can't comment upon the quality.
As far as comfort goes, they're considerably light and rest very gently on my shoulders. The plastic isn't very flexible so do be aware that on very slender peoples' necks they might look a bit big. The plastic it's made from feels sturdy enough. There's also a little magnet on the back of each headphone so that they can clasp together. The magnet even starts or ends phone calls when pulled apart or put together, respectively (same with music you're listening to). It comes with four pairs of earbuds - one is pre-installed and regular size, then it has three more pairs in Small, Medium, and Large in case your ears canals are shaped differently. I take these on a jog routinely and they aren't prone to falling out IF you keep your head straight, however, they will definitely begin to fall out if you turn your head left or right. Perhaps adding some third-party earbuds that are designed NOT to fall out will help with this, as I've seen other reviewers comment upon. There are buttons on the side for volume and the headset can be turned on or off with a switch on the back. Try tucking these under your collar when you're at work. They disappear or look like an unusual little necklace, it makes them far less noticeable if you're going for low-key.
Battery life is excellent. They have noise canceling for phone calls which can be toggled on or off, and this does have an effect upon battery life, but even with it on they last me around 9 hours before I have to charge them. I typically go about 3 days of moderate usage before charging, and it takes an hour or two to charge (I don't know exactly how long because I don't pay attention when I'm charging them).
All in all, these are the best headphones I've owned. Though I do wish the plastic was a little bit more flexible, it doesn't bother me enough to knock off a point. I highly recommend these above all other in-ear headphones on the market if you have the Note 5 or S6 Edge+ because I can't reiterate enough how wonderful the audio quality is with UHQA enabled.

An excellent mid-range, almost DSLR-type camera

I'm not a camera expert so I'm not going to pretend I know everything about cameras. That said, I've had a number of point-and-shoot cameras that worked without a problem. This camera goes far beyond anything like that and approaches DSLR territory, especially with its 60x magnification.
My wife and I were looking for a new camera that wouldn't break the bank, but also got really great reviews. So we looked up a number of models and came into Best Buy to compare. This one stuck out to us as a particularly affordable model and it happened to be the Deal of the Day for Best Buy's website. According to a lot of online reviews, it was one of the better cameras of 2013 (keep in mind, we got this three years after that).
All I can say is that this camera is STILL one of the better cameras out there, even three years later. The optical zoom is absolutely fantastic. We can take this camera virtually anywhere and zoom in to levels that I didn't think possible without a telescope-like lens. Even while zoomed all the way in, there is no blurriness or distortion. The camera is fairly hefty, so make sure you bring a tripod or have decent arm strength if you intend to hold it for a long time. It comes with a built-in flash and the ability to add a more advanced flash if you wish. I don't believe (I could be wrong) that you can swap out the lenses, which is one of only a couple downsides to it.
The other downside is that the software is really, really complicated. I work in the tech field, so I'm pretty savvy and adaptable when it comes to technology, but the software here really made me raise my brows. There are so many options that it can be overwhelming. Even for camera experts, it apparently can be a bit much. That said, if you're into options, this one has some fine-grain controls that are absolutely wonderful. My wife spent a lot of time playing with the options and found certain "smart" modes that allowed her to take shots that look like they're from the '70s, as well as another that adds a naturalness to the colors which I haven't seen reproduced even in most of the smartphone apps people can download today.
The battery life is decent, though we haven't played with it enough to know how long it lasts. I also recommend getting a decently sized SD card because 16 Megapixel shots take up more storage space than you expert, especially if you're snap-happy like my wife is. I definitely recommend this one to people who want a really good, quality camera but be advised that the software has a learning curve to it.

Perfect Purchase for Him
on January 3, 2016

I'm a big Samsung guy. I love Samsung, I live Samsung, I breathe Samsung. So this review might be a little biased. That said, this watch is amazing. I previously had the Samsung Gear S watch that came before it and I absolutely loved it. The only problem I had was that the interface seemed a bit simplistic and dated. It also didn't look like a real watch. When I went out with that big, black, chunky Gear S on my arm people knew I was a techno-geek. That might've been cool when I was younger, but these days I'm looking for something a lot more sophisticated.
The Gear S2 Classic, in that vein, is perfect for me. It possesses the ability to send and receive text messages, download apps, its battery life is good (2-3 days, more if you leave it on Power Saving mode), it has some beautiful and functional watch faces, and comes with a leather strap. Oh, and did I mention it looks like a regular watch?
That's right - it looks like a regular watch. It'll fit with all your clothes. The strap can be changed out to any other standard size watch strap (22 mm I believe). It's dust and water resistant so I don't have to worry about washing my hands and frying it. I have the CNN watch face right now because it shows me any news stories with just the flick of my wrist. I love the rotating bezel as well - it makes navigating a breeze.
The only downside to this model is that it has no speaker on it and doesn't make any sound. It only vibrates. My previous Gear S was capable of actually answering phone calls; this one can't. There is a Gear S2 Sport model that AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all carry which DOES have the ability to answer phone calls and make noise. Just make sure you know the difference.
Also keep in mind that this does not have a UV sensor that'll tell you to put on sunscreen, nor does it (at the time of writing) have the ability to track your sleep patterns. That was a little bit of a bummer, but I've read online that they're considering adding that feature to the Gear S2. They also need to focus on adding more apps because right now, the app store is mostly watch faces and only a choice few really good apps (such as Uber, Lifesum, CNN, News Republic, Bloomberg Business, and a few others). That said, it doesn't bother me enough to knock off a point.
I HIGHLY recommend this watch to people because it's extremely well-made, durable, handsome, good battery life, changeable watch straps, nifty apps, notifications, and overall just a cool, stylish experience that makes me think Samsung is finally upping their game. This little guy can definitely give the Apple Watch a run for its money.
