This camera falls somewhere in-between a point and shoot and a DSLR leaning toward the point and shoot side. It doesn't have all the functionality or flexibility of a DSLR, but takes better pictures than a compact point and shoot. Resolution is high and its super fast compared to the cameras I'm used too. You can't drop it in your pocket like a compact point and shoot, so if you need something to take skiing this would be a little bulky. But if the bulk doesn't matter this is a good value for the money. On sale it didn't cost much. We've had it for less than a week, so far so good.

The cable is a little short because it's coiled, so you need to keep your phone/iPad pretty close the the outlet when charging. But it's super heavy compared to a regular lightning cable so I don't think this one will have usual breaking at the plug problem.

Setup was easy, and the Linksys Smart wifi interface is easy to use. It's nice having the 2.4 and 5 Ghz options to handle older and newer devices. Everything connected easily except my Visio Smart TV. I don't know if there a compatibly issue at work here, or something else going on. When connected, data was really slow, the TV was always buffering, and connection dropped frequently. After spending hours tinkering to try and figure it out I gave up and we're just running all the internet related stuff like Netflix and You Tube through the Blu-Ray player. Super frustrating we can't use the Smart features of our Smart TV with this router. The previous router which was also a Linksys worked with this TV without issue.

Display
Is the heart rate shown as a constant display, or do you need to push a button to show it?
When you aren't using the HRM the display is a digital clock. When you start your workout the displays shows heartrate.

Is Chest Strap required for proper operation of FT7? And is one provided?
Yes, it should come with the strap and the H1 heart rate sensor. If you want to upload your data to Polar you have buy the Polar FlowLink unit to plug into the USB port on your computer. You don't need to upload the data to use the watch but it's pretty cool.
