I can't speak to the surge protector's ability to prevent damage to hardware because I fortunately have not had a lightning strike since purchasing this power strip. However, I can say that it has a very sleek design. Even the on/off switch is barely visible. Thus, your eye is not drawn to the power strip--exactly what I was hoping for. In addition, it doesn't take must force to insert a plug into the strip. As you may have noticed with other power strips, it can take a significant amount of force to insert a plug into the strip. That is not the case for this strip. I'm very pleased with this surge protector.

This review is based on only three days of use. However, the modem is working perfectly. I replaced the CM500 model because I wanted to add the telephone feature. It was truly plug and play. Once I had given Comcast the MAC addresses, I simply unplugged the CM500 and plugged in the CM500V. The cable modem did all the rest.

Excellent Portable DVD Player for the Money

This DVD player has excellent sound and picture quality. I also really appreciate the fact that there is an output port to permit viewing of the DVD on a device (like a TV) with a larger screen. I have experienced only two surprises. Under certain circumstances, that I haven't completely figured out, it doesn't remember where you previously stopped when watching a DVD. Also, it appears that it runs on battery power even when it is plugged in. I arrived at this conclusion because when I turn off the unit (while still plugged in), it indicates that it is recharging.

Lacks Some Basic Features

I was looking for an inexpensive DVD player that could play DVD disks that have been recorded at various speeds. Unfortunately, this DVD player is not up to the challenge. When playing DVDs that were recorded at low speeds, the video displayed on the television screen jerked/flickered when there was movement in the scene. In addition, I was disappointed that the player could not remember where I stopped. I frequently don't get a chance to watch an entire DVD in one sitting. Thus, it's important for the player to remember where I stopped watching. Unfortunately, when I turned the player back on, it started the DVD from the beginning of the disk. I have returned this player to the store.
