Great tool for coping data to a new computer

We needed to copy files from an older Windows XP PC that was being replaced to a new Windows 8 PC. I found this cable very easy to use. Just plug it in and let it install the app from the USB cable on each PC. Both PCs file systems were shown side by side in the app window. Then using the app on the target PC, you simply drag and drop the file(s) you want to copy.

when I hookup the cable only the local host (old computer) shows on my screen ,,the remote host (new computer) is not shown,, How can I correct this problem
Make sure the cable app is installed on both PCs, after you plug in the cable to each.

Do I have to use the software that is on the cable? My company uses Windows Easy transfer.
If you use Windows Easy transfer, both PCs must be on the same network (and this cable is not required). See ( http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-use-easy-transfer-in-windows-7.html ) for more detail.
To use the cable, you should use the software provided. Then both PCs need not be on the same network.
