An Excellent Monitor

I have never purchased a "Gaming Monitor" before, always going with the bargain basement or lowest on sale at the time I purchased a new computer (or that came with the package). Plus, the largest monitor I ever had for a desktop was about 23 inches. Needless to say, when the box arrived for this monitor my blood stirred a little. The packaging was very sturdy and is of the type that you remove some plastic plugs to release the cover, not cut open. The layout of the packaging was great and all the necessary parts were located quickly. It has the excellent stand, cable cover and of course the monitor. I was a little disappointed to find only a HDMI cable and not a DisplayPort cable. I would have liked to have tried both, but I will have to dig through my cable bag later (everyone has one of those, right?). I plugged everything in and fired up my desktop that has a AMD RX 580 card enclosed. This particular monitor is made to specifically sync with AMD cards (called FreeSync) to match refresh rates and stabilize the graphics during gameplay. The monitor is pretty large at 25 inches and the excellent stand allows for manipulation in height, angle and portrait/landscape. And it does an excellent job at this with great tension. The legs of the stand splay out and take up some space, but it is needed to allow for all the angles you can move this thing in. The screen was set very bright out of the box, and I had to use a screen calibrator to even things out right away. Colors are vivid as could be expected with a gaming monitor and the refresh rate is unnoticeably high. The monitor comes with an Alienware driver CD with drivers to push the monitor to the 1920 x 1080 resolution that is it's recommended display. After setting up the Alienware software and getting everything set properly it was time to play! I tried the monitor with both Need for Speed and Call of Duty. I'm not sure if the FreeSync made any difference, but I can tell you that both games ran with no stuttering and frame rate delays and looked fabulous! I turned all the settings all the way up and the AMD RX 580 and this monitor played through them easily. I will have to try some other games later but for now I can tell you that for me this monitor was worth it's price. With the only downside so far being without a DisplayPort cable, and that being trivial as the HDMI output is excellent, this is one of the best monitors I have owned. Grilling in the AC!

I haven't ever considered an item such as this as I always just cooked outside on the grill. This item, however, has changed that for me and gotten me out of the heat and into the AC! The box was good and sturdy with no damage. There was virtually no assembly, and we had it up and running in no time. A once over of the Owner's Manual made sure we were doing everything correctly. We plugged it in and let it run to make sure any manufacturing oils/other unseen things were burnt off. Wow, this thing is bright and hot! We also found our first shortcoming as this thing pulls lots of juice. We tripped the circuit breaker twice as we were trying to make fries in a fryer on the same circuit. After stopping the fryer we had no additional problems. It truly is smoke free as we made several burgers with little to no smoke. All the drippings fall to a small pan at the bottom (which is easy to pull out and clean) away from the heating lights. The burgers cooked quickly with little mess. Afterwards, the grill top is easily removed for cleaning (and the grill is non-stick) and everything else just needed a quick wipe down. We haven't tried steaks yet, as we wanted to test with what we thought would be messiest. All in all, this is a great addition to our kitchen and will be used often. If you like a grill but hate the heat or clean up, you should seriously consider this item. It is well worth it's price! Good shopping!

Pretty good wireless headphones

I got the JBL Everest 310 headphones in gunmetal silver last week. Maybe I am just getting too old, but it took me forever to figure out how to open the box. Seconds away from just ripping them open, I final got the box to slide out from the outer shell and was in business. Once opened, I located the hard shell case that holds the headphones, along with the neon orange cable (seriously) and the remote cord for corded listening. I also located the owners manual and other safety paperwork. The manual is the fanfold type with more languages than are possibly on earth. After getting the once-over of the headphones, I familiarized myself with the controls on the headphones. The power on is a slider type, with volume up, play/call receive and volume down next. Beside them are the Bluetooth pairing and sharing buttons. These are all along the rim of the right earcup. Simple enough to use. The corded connection is also on this earcup. The charger port is located on the left earcup without anything else. Again, I thought the controls were pretty straightforward, but for some reason I tried multiple ways to use the power button to get them into pairing mode not realizing there's the Bluetooth button on there for that. That whole getting old thing again. It should be noted that the headphones automatically go into pairing mode when initially turned on. I put the headphones on to adjust them and that's when I found the only downside for me. Although they create a good seal and are almost noise cancelling, as these are "on-ear" type there was a lot of pressure on my ears. They became somewhat uncomfortable after a while, and I am not sure I could handle an entire three hour flight with these on. Next was the sound... Sound is very subjective, and to me these sound very good. Not really bass heavy, they tend to lean more toward a natural balanced sound. Movies were robust with good bass, but again, not overwhelming. 80s rock and pop music seem to be handled well, but classical music was a little overdone. That said, they sounded really good for the price point these are at. Having a couple of other brands to compare them to put these close to the top. Calls were clear and callers said the could hear pretty clearly. Wind was it's downfall, however. (Not many headphones can successfully work well in windy conditions). Overall, short of the pressure exerted on my ears (maybe they will loosen up over time) these JBL headphones are really good with GREAT battery life. Recommended. Good Shopping!

The packaging was designed in such a way that made seeing the mouse easy. It also allowed for quick viewing of the many overall key features available without having to use the mouse. I easily opened the package and set the mouse up for use, without installing any software, within less than three minutes. Love the mouse’s small design which let it fit easily into the palm of my hand for smooth scrolling, movement and usage. The mouse’s rechargeable battery makes it even more valuable in the fact that I don’t need to bother with changing batteries out constantly. I can just easily plug it into my computer for quick and convenient charging. I have been using the mouse for over ten days, in my workplace, on the initial charge straight out of the packaging.
I would recommend this mouse to anyone with multiple work locations. I take it home at night for use with my laptop and then bring it back to work with me every day. It seamlessly transitions between the two computer locations without an issue. Good Shopping!

Good TV speaker replacement with caveats

The Samsung Soundbar arrived in a pretty large box with some pretty good weight to it, revealing that it was going to be a pretty solid product. During unboxing, I found all the required items to allow quick connection via digital optical in from my Samsung TV. After reading through the directions I was able to get it up and running pretty quickly. The enclosed remote is somewhat Spartan but did get the job done. It does have a bass control button on the remote to control the amount of bass (unlike some other big named manufacturers) that allows some control over your level of bass. The sound was clear, especially dialog. It has several different sound profiles (movie, music, sports, etc) to give you different sound configurations. For me, I put it on standard for most things which gave it the best overall sound. It also has multiple connection modes (wifi, digital in, hdmi, 4k passthrough, bluetooth) to allow for multiple ways to connect to the TV. If you have a later Samsung TV or Samsung multi-room speakers, you can set it up through wifi and stream music as well as the TV sound. I had issues initially getting the TV to find the soundbar but it eventually located it and worked seamlessly. It also streamed music quite well through the Samsung app and was quite good at it. Now to the caveat.. The sound from the soundbar is quite clear and robust, but the big claim to fame on this particular model is that the sub for bass is "built in". Now it does have some solid crisp bass and can fill a room pretty well, but I don't think it measures up to systems that have a sub-woofer with them. Does it make it not worth owning? Absolutely not, if you are not into bass-heavy sounds or don't care to have your house vibrate when you watch a movie, then this product will more that fit your bill. If however, you want the neighborhood to know your watching Terminator trilogy you might want to look elsewhere. It is still an impressive soundbar that warrants your consideration for the price. Good Wireless, better corded headphones

I really liked the sound and performance from these headphones, but when used in corded mode (it comes with the cord) they were excellent! They came in a pretty solid box with a material covered holder for the headphones. In the box is a drawstring pouch, a USB charging cable, a cord for connecting to devices hardwired. The headphones fold for portability. The controls on the bottom of one of the earphones seems somewhat fragile but did it's job. I was able to connect via bluetooth pretty quickly and they had a good range. The sound was really good in this mode. But when I used them with the wired connection to an MP-3 player they became excellent. Sound and detail were much more robust. These are really good headphones that worked well are worth the price! Range Extender Extreme!

I was concerned when receiving this as to whether it would live up to all the hype put out about this range extender. I found out there was nothing to be concerned about. I had also heard that it was very hard to set up. With a rather good knowledge of networking, it was actually a snap. I did, however, watch the setup video as many had suggested and confirmed that I had set it up correctly. If I was a complete novice or limited network knowledge I could see the concern, but with the video it was simple. Now to the operation of the extender, was it worth it or not... I can tell you that this is truly a powerful range extender to the point of being almost stronger than my main router. In fact, it put my router company's own range extender to shame. It has been running solidly without issue for a few weeks now, and nary a hiccup. It even properly rebooted after a thunderstorm induced power outage. If you have a large or difficult home setup that other range extenders are having a hard time covering, this Amped Wireless Helios range extender will make you a happily networked person. My New Favorite Blutooth Speaker

I don't have a massive amount of Bluetooth speakers at my house, but I have managed to collect a few. Out of all of them, the "B" brand mini speaker was my favorite, with good overall sound and excellent bass reproduction, but I would not dare to take this to the lake or pool. In comes the Lifeproof Aquaphonics AQ-10. The packaging was impressive and premium and hinted at what lies within. I opened the box to see the light grey and lime green AQ-10 speaker and really liked the feel and weight of the speaker. All ports are covered well in the necessary rubberized covers. The buttons on top are also rubberized. On one end is the power button and "lock-out" switch that disables all buttons. On the other end is the power in, Aux In and a USB charging port. Yes, this can act as a quick charger for cellphones, etc.! On the bottom is a "Dry Box" sealed enclosure to put things you don't want to get wet in. My current cellphone wont fit there, but my fruity MP3 player will. I guess a small wallet might fit. It comes with all the manuals and charging cords and looks really good. Now the sound: It is definitely clear and gets loud with minimal distortion. It easily fills my office with sound. The bass is mostly produced by a passive radiator on the rear so bass is a little light, unless in a corner or near a wall. But did I mention it's waterproof and floats! It is sealed totally so dust, moisture, water, snow and others won't affect. Also it's somewhat shockproof (as I learned when I tripped over the cord sending it flying across the room). No damage sustained. It also has speakerphone capability and calls were clear and worked well. So overall, the sound is really good but a little light on the bass side. But that is more than compensated for by being placed near a wall. The fact that it's sealed, waterproof and FLOATS makes this an excellent purchase. It's my new favorite outside, lakeside and quick hit speaker. Good Shopping!

I took a while to really use these to make sure that I had an accurate review, as headphones and audio equipment tend to be very subjective. The unboxing was pretty straightforward and the packaging is pretty solid and nice. I immediately realized that the connector was USB only, so no headphone jacks here! I also noticed that the cord is not all that long, so you will need to be in close proximity to whatever equipment you use these on. I hooked them up to my PS-4 right away and was first taken in by the cool LED effect on the outer shell of the headphones. After adjusting and fiddling to get them just right it was off to game time. I used Madden 17 to put them through their paces right away, and was blown away by what I could here versus through my TV or surround. I'm not much into online gaming, but I challenged my nephew on Madden and we talked back and forth. He said that the microphone sounded good, but there were times that it echoed or muted (could have been the connection, so can't necessarily blame the headphones). We went through an entire game and I did not notice any pressure points other than I think a little more padding in the headrest could have helped. I then tried them on my MacBook with a movie and again was surprised with the clarity and being able to pinpoint actions on the screen with the sounds in the Razers. It was quite astounding! Overall, I think these are well worth their price. As I don't use the mic as much, I'm not sure of the quality there, but it seemed to work well for me. Construction was good for this price point and I believe these would be a welcome addition to any gamer/movie enthusiast needing headphones, as long as you have the right system!

A very good and portable device

We have owned Dyson vacuums in the past, so we had pretty high expectations for the V7. We have had fans, an earlier vacuum model and recently a V6. The V7, while not their top of the line, more than met our expectation. First off, my wife loves the "magenta" body and vacuum tube. It was simple to unbox and had all the required parts, to include a wall charger assembly. It had a slight charge when we got it, but we immediately put it on the charger prior to firing it up. Once charged after about 2 hours we tried it out. This is SIGNIFICANTLY quieter than our previous V6. So much so that I was concerned that it wasn't as powerful. I was wrong! This thing has two levels, normal and Max power. It does an admirable job on normal, which allows the run time to be greater. On max, it knocked out even the most heavy carpet and got a lot of dog hair from our dogs. The max does drop operation time significantly, if you need that extra oomph, it's there. Normal seems to get most debris laying around. It has a different emptying scheme than prior Dyson vacuums so make sure to keep the instructions around at least initially. Overall we were very impressed, especially with the reduction of how loud these can get. We will be using this as the day to day sweeper (especially for our hardwood floors) and pull out the big one for weekend cleaning. It gets all the dog hair and has attachments for cars, ceiling fans and you can get others for even your keyboard. Highly recommended.
