The Kills have a unique blend of White Stripes style garage rock mixed with a bit of electronic pop. Whatever you call it, it's very catchy. And there are only two people in the band. Alison Mosshart is one of the best singers out there (she's also lead singer of supergroup The Dead Weather), and Jamie Hince has a very unique style of playing guitar. A drum machine provides that electronic edge to their sound. So far everything I've heard of theirs has been great, and this album is no exception.
This is Faith No More's very first album, and it is terrific. Most people probably only know Faith No More from the Mike Patton albums, but Chuck Mosley was their original singer, recording this album and another, Introduce Yourself, before Patton took over as vocalist. I think Mike Patton is one of the greatest rock vocalists ever, but Chuck Mosley does a great job here. Mosley has more of a punk rock style, which is perfect for songs like We Care A Lot and As The Worm Turns. And the rest of the band is also in top form. Listen to the instrumental Pills For Breakfast for an example. There are very few of the rough spots you might expect from a debut album. It's been remastered and sounds great, and is definitely worth picking up.
