Can you shut the caller id announce off if you do not want to use it?
Yes you can shut it off.

Are the handsets synchronized?
When you clear the calls on one handset do all the other handsets automatically clear at the same time. With my current system each handset has to be cleared individually.
Yes, all phones are synchronized.
