Will it also play games on disc?
It will function like any other cd drive, and depends on the data format of the file you're trying to use, and what program you're gonna run on your computer. So yes, the drive will work for this.

Does LG have the installation software online?
My C Drive on my laptop no longer works and cannot read discs (hence why I need a new one). Does this device need a CD to install the drive or can that be found on LG's website?
No, it's plug and play. Drivers will automatically install, from OS's windows 7 and above.

Is this noisy to watch a movie on?
It's actually quiet. Not noticeable at all, compared to older drives like this.

Will it burn a slideshow onto a dvd that is about 15 minutes ?
Yes, as long as the media doesn't supersede the disk capacity.

Can it be used as boot device?
If I have windows on DVD, can I use this device to boot Windows from it?
Yes, it will be recognized as a regular drive. Just change the boot menu order in your bios screen to boot from cd rom drive first.

what type of cable is used to connect to a microsoft surface pro III
The end that connects to the drive is "mini" usb, and the other end is a regular usb. The surface pro 3 will automatically install the drivers for this cd drive, so just plug it in and play!
