Months after undergoing electroconvulsive therapy, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) is living a relatively peaceful life with her father and sister as the second season of the conspiracy thriller begins. But her mental health is threatened when she accepts a mission to return to Beirut and gather intelligence from the wife of a Hezbollah leader, a woman who once was one of Carrie's most valued sources. Carrie can't resist the possibility of bringing down terrorist Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban) and perhaps being reinstated at the CIA. In Washington, D.C., congressman Brody (Damian Lewis) is being groomed as a potential vice-presidential running mate, but Saul (Mandy Patinkin) makes an alarming discovery that puts a serious dent in Brody's plans. Trouble also brews in the Brody household when Brody's daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) outs him as a Muslim to her mom Jessica (Morena Baccarin), who is enjoying life as the newest member of the Capitol's inner circle. Dana's life becomes even more complicated when she and the vice president's son inadvertently commit a crime while out on a joy ride. Throughout it all, Carrie is increasingly drawn to Brody, even though he is the willing pawn of the world's most feared terrorist.
