Buyer Beware
on September 29, 2017

We decided to try this unit our as our primary Blu-Ray player at a nonprofit screening venue and purchased one in January (8 months ago). It's been installed in a rack and used 1 or 2 times a week for BR playback only.
Last week the unit stopped recognizing discs, giving a "No Disc" message for any disc we tried. Updated the firmware but no change. Called Denon service yesterday midday and was told they would replace the unit but that they were out of stock. Told they would check for a comparable model or upgrade and call me back in 20 minutes. No return call as of this afternoon. Recalled and had to go through the whole phone process again. Was told the turnaround time was 2-4 weeks after they received the unit from us. Asked if there was any way to expedite the exchange, the highly indifferent call service person said no and made little effort to apologize or help with this.
I wanted to like the Denon but am feeling pretty burned by both the defective unit and their lackluster customer service. I'd say buyer beware on this - maybe stick with Oppo.
