I purchased this laptop for my father who has been hospitalized for a prolonged period of time. I wanted him to have internet access for email, facebook, skype etc. This computer has improved my dad's life allowing him to keep in contact with a lot of caring family members. it has made a positive difference in his outlook and attitude.

My receiver is 7" tall, so it doesn't look like any of the shelves will accommodate it. Can the center shelf (behind the doors) be removed? Is it all one shelf, or is it split in the center?
the middle shelf is all one piece and can be left out during assembly for additional storage height. Shelf in, there is nowhere that can handle a DVD stored upright as the shelves are too short. The middle shelf is supported at five points and the shelf is metal, not glass. There is no center post at the front of the cabinet but if you were to create one, then the shelf could be cut in half to make a middle shelf for only one side.

Is the main shelf contained within the glass doors adjustable or fixed? Other questions here say you can remove the shelf for the receiver but I'm not sure if that means it can be adjusted to accommodate a taller receiver. Thx for the help!
The product offers two positions for the middle shelf. Neither position offers room enough to store DVDs on edge. The middle shelf can be left out altogether with no change in apparatus stability but it is not an easy removal. It is best to make the decision to leave out the middle shelf during assembly. Done that way, there will be substantially more vertical height but less square foot storage.

Will the tempered glass hold weight of a SAMSUNG UHD 65" TV which weighs 55 lbs? Model: UN65MU8000FXZA. The base of TV is 4 legs and not a spread out flat base- hence my concern. I know the TV will stick out about 2" on either side and I am OK with it.
The material says the glass top handles weight to 70 lbs. We put a 60" TV on it along with an Xbox 1 so it should handle your 55 lbs.

Yes you can record music and videos to flash drives. you just need to make sure the flash drive is big enough and change the target for the recording destination.

I have an HP laptop without a CD driver. It has a touch pad for control. How do I install or use a mouse instead of touch pad?
Most mice (mouses?) don't require a cd to install if you are using Window 7 or later. Just plug the mouse in and let the windows software do its own thing. If you want a gaming mouse with a lot of extra buttons, you may need to obtain a portable CD drive which plugs into a USB outlet. I recommend a CD read/write so you can burn CDs as well. If your touchpad gives you problems with accidental touches, you can disable it in the device manager. go to My Computer then System Properties then Device Manager. enjoy
