Decorative case; not full protection

I always used to associate Otterbox with max phone protection. This Symmetry case makes me think twice about that. Maybe if you were to drop your phone 100 times, this case would protect it 99 of those times. However, for me it only took the phone falling out of my pocket once. Phone fell about 2 feet landing on the corner of the case and shattering the display. Maybe it's the case's lack of protection or maybe I was just unlucky. Either way, I won't be using this case with my repaired S8.

Case fits the phone well and offers adequate grip, but it, like many cases for the S8 family, does not protect the fragile display adequately. It's also expensive given its one piece molded construction and access to the fingerprint sensor is slightly compromised.

It appears that most case manufacturers, including Otterbox, were more concerned with showing the curved display than protecting it. Looking at the entire Otterbox line for the S8, all leave the curved edge exposed.

Note that I had a Zagg screen protector installed, too, when the phone dropped. If you buy an S8, consider a protection plan. It's obviously fragile.
