I had the Roku 2 and returned it for the Roku 3 since it was on sale for less than the Roku 2. I really liked the Roku 2 as well but I didn't like the controller how it had to be pointed directly at the unit to work.
Roku 3 the remote works from anywhere! You can have your unit tucked away somewhere and the remote still works! The remote also has voice search and a headphone jack, unlike Roku 2.
I'm very happy with how it performs, all of our streaming services work great. We have Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, VUDU, and SlingTV etc. We used to have issues with Hulu and Sling while streaming through the Xbox one, but now with the Roku 3 everything works smooth. No buffering, and loading, or glitching during sports.
So happy I got the Roku 3. I definitely recommend it for cord cutters.

I picked this speaker up for work, I work in a warehouse. This lacked volume, and at higher levels it distorts. Battery life was horrible, and the speaker is not waterproof which I knew when I purchased just thought I'd point that out. Another thing annoying about this speaker is the voice alerting you maximum volume was reached.
I wouldn't suggest this speaker at all. I ended up ordering a VTIN 20 watt bluetooth waterproof speaker off of Amazon and it's great. It's more expensive but worth it.

Pulls hair, and leaves strays

Let me start off by saying I've been cutting hair for 24 years now and I've always used Wahl clippers. They've always done a great job, even the lower priced models such as these. I was very disappointed with this set of clippers though. I tend to like to cut hair quickly and these will not allow that as they will tug and pull hair if you run them too quickly. Even after you go over the hair many times, you can still see stray long hairs. Maybe I got a lemon but I cannot recommend these clippers. Spend a little more and get a quality set.

I wanted a TV for the bedroom and this one was the perfect size, and a great deal. Has a great picture but I would recommend adding a soundbar. The audio is lacking and sounds distorted at high volumes. I recently added the Insignia 2.0 Mini Soundbar and it sounds great. I'm very happy with my Vizio, only negative I can think of is there is no SlingTV app available from Vizio. Not a deal breaker, hopefully they add the app soon.
Overall for an HD smart TV you really can't beat it. I think the next large TV I purchase for my living room will be a Vizio.

Open Box in "Excellent" Condition was a Dud

I decided to order an open box unit in "excellent" condition to save a few bucks. It shipped quickly and appeared to be fine. I opened it up and found it was missing the AC adapter! Well just so happens I have a ton of adapters laying around so I found one that worked and powered it up. Connected via bluetooth from my phone and no sound! Connected with RCA cables, again no sound! Optical cable, no sound...
So I took it to my local Best Buy and returned it, and got a new unit instead. The new unit worked fine.
So lesson learned.

Great, but controller is horrible!

I absolutely love the Roku 2 for our streaming services. We have Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Vudu, and Sling. The Roku works flawlessly delivering our shows without buffering or freezing even with our slow internet download speeds of 6 Mbps. Previously we used the Xbox One to stream but many of the apps were lacking, mainly Sling and Hulu. We would have constant buffering and stuttering, which is annoying especially while watching sports on SlingTV.
So my brother who has the Roku 3 as well as Xbox One suggested we try the Roku 2 since it has the same processors as the Roku 3 but costs less. Well like I said we really liked it, but the one area it was lacking was the remote! I do like the buttons on the bottom to go directly to Hulu, and Netflix, etc but I hate how you have to point the remote directly at the Roku to get it to respond! So annoying!
Well wouldn't you know it the Roku 3 remote connects over your WiFi signal and will work without have to point it at the box. So you can have your Roku 3 box tucked away somewhere, or you can just not be annoyed by having to point the remote straight at the box to make it work! You may be thinking this is not a deal breaker for you, but just wait until you experience it for yourself. I sounded like a broken record with my kids, move please, can you not put your toy there etc...
Well good news the Roku 3 became available for less than the Roku 2 on the black Friday special. So I returned the Roku 2 and saved money by getting the Roku 3! I expect it to be a perfect 5 star rating since my only gripe about the Roku 2 was the remote. Also the Roku 3 has voice command capability, and a headphone jack! Bonus!
Overall, I would most definitely recommend the Roku 2 (if the remote thing doesn't bother you) or the Roku 3 if you understand how that could be annoying.

Can I set this up as a traditional tv without direct internet or smart apps? Can you use the provided remote for set up menus and basic operations? I would not utilize the smart apps, prefer to Use a laptop and Sony blu ray with HDMI cables.

can i get local channels on this t.v. or do i need cable. what about an antenna?
You can get local TV apps on the TV yes. Those will allow you to watch clips of local news and top stories etc. You cannot watch live TV without an antennae though. I would suggest the Mohu leaf for an HD antennae.

Which is the cheapest box that I can get so that I can get Netflix and Showtime and Cinemax?
The Roku stick is the best deal and I hear it has the same processors as the Roku 2 & 3 now. You can get Netflix, Showtime, and Cinemax among many others. Or if you can get that black Friday deal going on right now with the Roku 3 it's only $49.99 with free two day shipping.

How fast is this player? I have heard that it is slow and laggy, especially when navigating the Netflix app. What has your experience been?
No that's not true at all, it's lightning fast. I have slow internet at 6 Mbps and I have zero issues, in fact I got the Roku just because of the lag issues we were having with other streaming devices. The Roku solved our problems. I initially went with the Roku 2 which is great, but the Roku 3 went on a Black Friday sale for $49.99 which is less than I paid for the Roku 2 so I exchanged it for the 3. Highly recommend it.

I want to get rid of DirecTV and and get Roku Express for my TV's. Do I need a device for each TV? Is there a subscription to use it? And how to get Playstaion Vue with it?
Yes each TV would need it's own Roku, there is no subscription for Roku. Not sure about PlayStation VUE, I have Xbox One and not sure if it's available on the Roku.
I would suggest the Roku stick since they upgraded the processors and it's now just as fast as Roku 2 and 3 but costs less. Unless you can get the Black Friday deal going on right now for the Roku 3 at $49.99 which is an absolute steal!
