Works Just As Needed

This remote always works. Sometimes when I hit the activity button (such as watch Bluray) to turn on the systems my receiver would revert back to "TV". However, I adjusted the settings on the remote so that the TV would turn on first and others would follow. This way I don't have to hit the Help button. I like lots of buttons because it makes using the remote more efficient. The screen is helpful, but the interface is way too time consuming when configuring the screen when you have tons of options like I do for my receiver. But, I can totally customize which order the options show up on the screen. I wish it were radio frequency and I wish it had a cradle for charging so I wouldn't have to connect it to the charger. Other than that, it's a great remote. For beginners I could see how they could get frustrated with how to use the remote. It takes time to understand the concept of using the activity buttons and switching from device to device.

The sound from the receiver is great and they do a good job of pushing my Def Tech 8040 towers and center channel. Although I'm using ARC from my Sony tv, I ended up getting an optical cable for more consistent switch back of sound from tv to receiver. The remote has buttons for all of the functions, but the iPhone provides more access to the functions and is very robust. I chose this over a Denon x3200 because the Denon did not work well with my AT&T uverse set top box. Plus, I actually thought the SC-91 sounded better. Setup was easy.
Now to the downsides...there is an issue with connectivity to the app. Once my cell phone leaves the wifi network I cannot reconnect to the receiver without unplugging the receiver's power cord. That tells me it's not the app, but the receiver. You can use custom names for the input, but changing the names using the remote is very tedious. The interface for the setup could be better, but this is now considered a discontinued model. Pandora on the receiver is useless for some reason it does not recognize your account. You will have to use Pandora on your phone.
I like the receiver even with the hiccups listed above. It always works and has sufficient power. I would recommend this receiver, but would let the buyer know about the app connectivity, which could be a biggy if you will use it a lot to play songs from your phone wirelessly.

Great for Home Theater

Purchased these at a significant discount as the new models were coming in. Setup was easy as I have them powered by a Pioneer Elite SC-91. Bass is good considering the small size of the subwoofer. However, if you want the deeper bass you will need to add a desperate subwoofer. I don't feel like I have to have another subwoofer. The clarity is not that of a Martin Logan or Bowers and Wilkins, but I I am satisfied. Plus, I was not willing to pay thousands more to get to floorstanding speakers and the sub will for in the other manufacturers. I'm very satisfied for the price I paid and now just need to get the rear surround speakers to complete the system.

If you need an inexpensive bluetooth headset that works consistently, then this is the item for you. It does not have all the bells and whistles, volume is not that great, sound quality is just acceptable and range is so so. I usually like higher quality electronics, but this does just what I need it to do. The only issue I have is that it is easy to hang up the phone if you don't grab it from the sides when using it. I've just become accustomed to not grabbing it by the outer face and grabbing it by the sides if I need to adjust it while using it.
