Optical/wireless transmision delays drive me crazy

The keyboard has a nice feel to it. Both the keyboard and mouse have delays when typing or moving cursor. Kids don't seem to mind the delays, but it drives me NUTS to wait for text to appear on screen to make sure it is correct before moving on.
