I did the initial simple setup to verify that everything worked ( cameras, cables, power). then I started with the more advanced functions like email notification. I could not get this to work; so I called support.. They were AWESOME!! (in the Phillipines!) they took remote control and worked through all the settings. (Conclusion - all I needed was to set up a NEW G-Mail account ... and reduce the security setting to allow the SWANN software to use G-Mail. The rep had a special script that she ran against G-Mail to accomplish this.) Everything WORKS as advertised .. All cameras are 1080 P with awesome pictures. Email notices send three pics of activity that triggered motion.

All my research indicated that this would be the best solution. In actuality it did not work in my scenario. Not sure why, possibly the backup battery on the circuit(?) I returned this product and purchased a wireless LAN extender ... that worked perfectly.

HUGE improvement / easily cloned

When purchased, I was not certain what might come with the drive regarding tools. Upon arrival, nothing was included - so, I purchased a SATA / USB connector and found a cloning software (free - Farstone, Drive Clone 11). I connected the drive and started up the cloning software. I was copying a 450 GB drive to the 250 GB SSD; but was only using 120 GB of storage. The software automatically reduced the drive size and commenced the cloning process; this took about 10 hours. Once completed, I swapped out the drive in my laptop and powered it up - VIOLA ...!! Everything worked beautifully - only at a fraction of the time.. DRAMATIC speed increase, not only at startup but also with everything else, including Web access. NOTE: I did get a 'popup' to upgrade the cloning software every time I booted; so I simply removed the software - problem solved. Additional Note: the drive on my laptop actually had 4 partitions .. the software copied them all and retained all the necessary order, size, and settings..

the HDMI ports went out on my previous Toshiba product, so i needed a new TV. did the research on this product and am very impressed with the quality of the picture and sound. the sound is much better than the Toshiba provided. I still have the additional soundbar, that i will use with movies for a bit more depth; but it really is not needed. I did not want to pay for a 'smart' TV - won't use the features.

how many hours of video will this record with all 4 cameras?
That depends upon the resolution you set and whether you have continuous record or only capture motion events. In my case, I have continuous record at night (6:00pm - 6:00 am) and use motion detection during the day. I have the resolution set at 1080p ... The recorder keeps 2 weeks history with these settings.
I had originally set recording for 24 hr motion only ... with that setting I retained 4 weeks history.

Does this work with a Asus Zen book ?
Never using an external slate drive card, does this work like all small data cards? does this just fit inot the port? Or is this an internal device that needs to be installed?
This is an internal drive to replace a standard drive with a Solid State drive.

is this pretty good for my acer M5 481p-6644?
average price I should expect to pay geek squad for installment , new member or not. ( I figured 3337u cpu with this should run as good if, not better than 4210u) plus laptop is under 2years old. i heard the ram was already maxed at 6.
YES... the largest impact on performance is actually disk I/O ... reading and writing from the disk ... SSD has no physical drive - it is all Solid state .. tremendously faster than the 5400 RPM drives in laptops.

Does this come with data transfer program?
How do you get data from old drive to new? Any problems with MS products recognizing license codes?
No, the drive does not come with a data transfer tool ... I found and used Farstone.com (Drive Clone 11) Home version is free download. Worked like a CHARM ... you will also need an adapter to connect the drive to to USB (assuming you are cloning a laptop?) I purchased Sabrent (2.5" SATA Hard Drive / SSD to USB 3.0 Adapter) mail-order. One Note - after you install the cloned drive you will get a popup every time you boot your PC to Upgrade the software - simply uninstall the software to resolve this.

How does this mount in a 3.5 inch drive bay?
How does this ssd (which is 2.75 inches wide) mount in a 3.5 inch drive bay? I see many adapters offered to mount 2.5 inch ssd, but none to mount 2.75 inch ssd.
check the web ... there are numerous bays available to accommodate mounting an SSD into a 3.5 inch bay. I purchased one from Sabrent (2.5" SSD and SATA harddrive to desktop 3.5" bay bracket.) you mentioned 2.75" - I believe that is actually considered 2.5" .. these are basically all the same size.
