This is one of the best wireless keyboards out right now. 3 separate Bluetooth lines at the touch of a button, and USB receiver for non BT devices. The channel that you can put your phone or tablet into is cut at a useful angle and runs the entire length of the keyboard so you can even let your tablet hang over the side. It held my iPad in a thin case and my Surface Pro 4 just fine. It has a little weight to it, but that's good for stabilizing bigger tablets.

This is the first PC I've had to buy in over a decade (I'm a Mac user at home and the office paid for the PCs), but I finally needed to buy a PC. I wished I could do everything on my iPad but I needed USB connectivity, or on my Mac but had some applications that were buggy under Parallels and Fusion. I bought this keyboard with my Surface Pro 4 and have not regretted it for a moment. The magnetic connection makes it so much more convenient than setting up a Bluetooth connection, with fewer drops and hassles. It's nice to not worry about charging another device, too. The backlit keyboard is more helpful than I thought it would be. And the size and smoothness of the trackpad is far superior to the previous keyboard. This is also backward compatible with the Surface Pro 3.

Is the screen protector built into the case or separate?
It is separate. Just a normal film that you apply. There's room enough in the screen opening to fit a tempered glass screen protector which is what I'll be doing when the included plastic film gets ruined.
