Inexpensive. Effective.

This isn't a $600 Bosch vacuum. Its a relatively cheap shop vac. And that's a good thing. It means you get a lot of features and attachments without breaking the bank. It means you don't feel bad beating it up, or trying to suck up way more stuff than you should. It sucked up six-zillion gallons of sawdust the other day without any complaints. All the attachments work. The wireless remote function works. It all works. It's cheap, but it doesn't feel like it's going to break tomorrow. It's a vacuum, which isn't complicated technology, so I would hope not.
Absolutely satisfied with it. For $100, you can't go wrong with this thing. If I needed to use it every day in a professional shop, I might consider something of a higher tier, but for occasional home hobby use, it works great for cleaning up messes.

I was a bit hesitant to jump on the smart switch bandwagon because there are always reviews that talk about the reliability of these devices, but I've had none of those issues. It took me mere minutes to configure using the WeMo app, and another two minutes to link to our Google Home app, and we were up and running.
"Hey Google, turn off the lights!" *click*
As far as I can tell, the only reliability issues we've had (and they have been rare in the grand scheme of things) seem to be more a Google Home issue (as that's still a relatively "young" system that's constantly being tweaked and improved upon) rather than a WeMo issue. This is supported by the fact that I've NEVER had an issue controlling the switch using the WeMo app; only when talking to the Google Home have I ever [very occasionally] had issues.
TL;DR - Works great. Will be buying more in the near future once we decide which devices we are going to control via smart wall outlets, and which devices will be controlled via light switches.

If you're looking at this router, then you're obviously considering spending quite a bit of money on something that has $50 alternatives. If you're looking at spending quite a bit of money, then I would HOPE you've done a lot more in-depth research and read some proper reviews of this system. If you've done THAT, then you're probably here because those reviews led you to believe that this is one of the best home networking solutions you can buy...
If all that is true, then you're in the same position that I was a few months ago. This means you know all of the basics, and I don't need to go over all of that with you, and I can simply tell you whether or not it worked for me, and whether I am happy.
I looked into this system after moving into a 1550 square foot, three-story townhouse. My older Linksys router worked "okay" at first, though it didn't provide much of a signal out in the driveway, or on the back deck. What spurred me to upgrade was when we decided to go balls-to-the-wall with smarthome appliances, and started purchasing things like a Nest, WeMo switches, Chromecasts, Google Homes, etc... and soon discovered that the sheer volume of WiFi devices was overwhelming our router. Did some research, and long story short, I went with the Velop system (two nodes.)
How has it worked out? Setup was stupid easy (if you've ever set up a Google Home, or a Chromecast, where the app walks you through the setup, that's exactly how this system works, and it's hilariously simple compared to the "old way" of setting up routers.) I put one node in our living room (2nd floor) and one in the guest bedroom/game room upstairs. The end result is a FULL 5 bars everywhere in our house, and on the back deck, and in the driveway... and my phone actually connects to our network from the parking lot of a business 1,000 feet away (which is actually annoying, lol.) Speeds are blazing fast, devices seamlessly connect to whichever node is closest, and the app you use to monitor and configure stuff is very intuitive and easy-to-use. All of the issues we had with WiFi device congestion are gone now too!
TL;DR - It's expensive, but it works. Maybe there are less-expensive options that would have also worked, but the point is if you're a nerd like me and you don't mind splurging a bit on the latest tech, this system won't let you down :)

Noticeable Boost in Speed

As other reviews have mentioned, you can actually get faster speeds than what you're paying your ISP for with this modem, and I am no exception. We pay for a 300 Mbps internet plan, and with this Surfboard, my speed tests consistently come in at 350-or-so.
I'm not a crazy power-user who is going to take advantage of all of the intricate features of this modem, but as someone who just wants reliable, fast internet, I am satisfied. Blazing fast speeds, no issues after several months of ownership (no need to reset it yet), and no complaints. It works. It works well. It improved our internet speeds. Not sure what else I could ask for!

What continuously surprises me about today's technology isn't its capabilities, but the ease with which it makes those capabilities accessible to the masses. The Chromecast is an excellent example of this. You plug it in, you download the app on your phone, it walks you through a series of very clear, simple, easy-to-understand instructions, and before you know it, you're good to go! It works very well, it keeps itself updated automatically, etc...
The only time we ever had issues with ours was when our obsession with converting our house to a Smart Home led to too many WiFi-enabled smart devices overwhelming our older router. Once I upgraded our home to a more modern router setup (a Linksys Velop mesh system), our occasional Casting issues vanished.
If I have any complaint, it's that normally when you're casting stuff, anyone whose device is in the house can see and (if you've allowed it) control the playback. However, in our experience, they still need to improve that system a bit because our phones don't always reliably display that information in the Notification Bar. So every so often if it disappears from both of our phones, it's a bit of a PITA to stop something that is being casted. This is a minor foible, though, and it seems to be occurring much less frequently than it used to, so they've definitely greatly improved it.
Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. We have THREE. One for the bedroom, one for the living room (an Ultra) and one for the kitchen.
