Apple TV - so much more than I expected

I cancelled my satellite service in November 2013 and have been relatively happy living with just a handful of stations via a small rooftop antennae. I finally took the plunge and bought Apple TV after seeing the price drop and I've been very pleasantly surprised by the amount of free content offered by some of the "cable" stations.
I live in a rural home with line-of-sight internet signal and didn't think I could stream tv stations. Boy was I wrong! The picture quality is great with little "buffering" even though my internet signal is nowhere near blazing fast. I can even be surfing the net while streaming!
I've been kicking myself for deciding not to try Apple TV back when I cancelled my satellite service.

Will this work on my late 2012 MacBook Pro?
I installed the Samsung EVO 850 1TB in my new-to-me December 2011 MacBook Pro and it's been running so much faster than it did with the Hitachi 750GB HDD that came with it so I can't imagine that it wouldn't be fine for your 2012 MBP. It's been about a month and I've had no issues with this new SSD.
Plus, I went on to install the 500GB version of this SSD in my mid/late 2007 MBP and it's been running just fine since it was installed about 2 weeks ago. I've noticed improved performance/speed. Granted, nowhere near the increase as I've seen in the 2011 MBP but enough to warrant the money spent.

How long is the cord?
Unstretched, my adapter measures 24" from the tip of the 8-pin end to where the cable attaches to the plug. I plugged it into my iPhone and was able to stretch it 59" (bottom of iPhone to where cable attaches to plug) without the 8-pin pulling out of the phone. It may stretch further but 59" was as far as my arms would reach. :)
