wow level of audio experience with some downsides
on January 26, 2024
Posted by: MigDigital
Initial Note:
- This is a review based on not being audiophile expert nor technical knowledge and having tried multiple earbuds of premium brands;
- Review is based on use experience with iPhone 15pro Max and MacBook Pro 2020.
After several hours of wearing and testing the EPIC Lab Edition earbud from JLAB, it offers excellent sound quality close to a crafted and premium level earbud but accessible price range. Although it might not be exactly same, the immersive experience feels mostly equally high end mobile audio experience.
It support (extract from the product specifications)
- Hi-Res Audio, type of compression for Android (LDAC) and iOS (AAC);
- Made with Hybrid Dual Drivers (dynamic and Knowles balanced armature driver);
- Bluetooth LE
- Dual Charging via wireless or usb-c
- 56+ hours of playtime
The package includes:
- Earbud
- Charging case with wireless charging option
- USB-C to C charging cable
- Bluetooth LE Audio Dongle
- 6 Tips” S/M/L silicon and cloud foam.
PAIRING WITH MOBILE PHONE
The pairing with mobile phone is within the normal experience as would be any other brand of earbud.
Once connected and downloaded Jlab App, it automatically update as gets synchronized. And the entire audio experience is only controlled via JLab App.
PAIRING WITH LAPTOP
It require the dongle plugged to the laptop, and automatically connect with the earbud. The process can take couple of sec to a min or so if work. In my case I had to try twice.
THE APP
The app has options to :
-Noice Control Modes
-Equalizer
-Touch Controls
-Music Mode/Movie Mode
-Safe Hearing
-Auto Play/Pause Sensors
-Update Firmware.
- Icon that provide level of battery for Left and Right
The application options are available only when the earbud is connected to the phone.
AUDIO EXPERIENCE:
It is quite remarkable for the size that is the earbud, with songs and video pull in the listening moment to part of the sound. Used for:
- Listening while working or taking a moment of break, played streaming music;
- Listening while running 1hours + continuously, part of experiment played Electric and mixed music for sport activities.
- Played sound testing video and part of movies.
In each of the case, it is immersive and as if being in the middle of the sound. As side note, for this to notice, it start at certain level of volume that for instance can feel the bass, then right to left and vice versa direction of the beat or the sound effect in case of movie, For movie, example, watching Maverick, can feel the jet flying sound from all directions and moving across. Although it is at the same level of full size headphone, but reasonably good enough.
Another instance among the song, the mixed version of Bad Guy, while listening can feel in the middle of energetic sound or part of the session.
On the noise cancelling note, it is good as the sound. As soon as place in the ear, it feels as if sealing effect. Such effect that can be experienced in the full size headphone of premium brand.
The noise cancelling has three options, on/off and awareness mode. This last one is almost like expanding the surrounding sound,
And the use of equalizer allow to control the level of bass and not out of normal would say. By default it comes four modes, JLab signature, Knowles Signature, Bass Boost, and Custom.
Touch Control:
In total 6 possible setting, 3 each side. Can be setup all or just one. It setup by One Tap, Two Tap, and Three Tap for each.
What does well:
1. Sound Experience - sort of Wow level
2. Noise Cancelling
3. Fit in the ear. It is very stable and doesn’t shake or move at all despite of running and sweat.
4. Considerably Fatigue-less. Often with another brand I had this fatigue feeling in first 10 to 15 minutes of wearing it, But I didn’t experience it with JLAB TW EPIC Edition.
Wish it does better:
1. Touch Control. It works well for first tap Left/Right. Two taps some times works, some time doesn’t, three taps few times worked only.
2. Multipoint Connection. I was not able to connect to two mobile phones. Connection to laptop or any other device like Apple TV or Android TV can’t be used, at least I couldn’t make it work. With notebook can’t connect with Bluetooth directly and having to use the Dongle.
3. Mic. If making call while there is wind, the earbud doesn’t isolate it making almost hard to maintain conversations during the phone call.
4. Connectivity Reliability. If connected with notebook and phone, during the test experienced that the phone doesn’t remain connected and sporadically disconnect and connect by itself. And using with Notebook for ZOOM meeting, also experienced dropping connection then connecting again,
The JLab TW EPIC Edition is a nicely put together hardware and deliver almost as if those high end and priced audio earbud or full size headphone. However, the user experience and reliability on connectivity and unable to fully take advantage of multipoint connection and shortcoming in microphone makes weight in the rating.
But still recommendable for simple usage as it deliver quite impressive listening experience for the price category.
I would recommend this to a friend!

For being a photo enthusiast and recording videos on the move, most of cases used iPhone for its portability aside of its benefit on video and photography capabilities as move around. Easy to put in the bag or pocket and easy to pull out fast and instant. Comparing to that experience, and although it is not a direct comparable device, OSMOS Pocket is quite handy with full of features that allow to capture in the instant at high quality level within what is possible for that size.

And for the length size of about 6” with 2” touch screen, DJI has placed the user experience in the minimal size of hardware. Via touchscreen can control most of the feature at a single touch. Only few functionality made via separate button and joystick like button to control power on/off and direction of the gimbal camera.
The same is in sync and parallel can be controlled via the DJI Application with great synchronization I would say. Easy to work on the image in live mode although it needs to be saved in the micro sd.
On the other hand, it took me some time to get used to the tiny screen and try to use each of the functionality on the move. This is not necessarily a negative observation but it comes with the type of device is made for.
But I have to mention a side of the resolution that speak by itself, the control of the camera with joystick is very responsive and immediate. As move up/dow/right/left it is instant, and also has automatically recalibration such doesn’t require manually to do it.
What I wish it does better:
1. Attachment to the tripod work a like iPhone magsafe attachment, It require to screw which lead to miss chances of good shot when everything is on the move and need to place it standing.
2. The camera and gimbal can be detached for better portability. Although the name refer to it, it still not small enough for a pant pocket and still bit bulky.
3. Water resistant? I couldn’t find information what level is supported.
4. For being a creative pack, it left out micro sd, a filter and usb-c charger making the package incomplete.
5. Although it is not an action camera per se, it would be nice to be able to click a clothing to have hand free for additional view via mobile phone or other task that demand the situation.
In bottom line, full of functionality and latest in the tiny OLED screen enabling creativity for squeezed and unique situation.

Solid Robot but useful for specific user cases.
on November 21, 2023
Posted by: MigDigital
This is review of Roomba Combo j5 Robot Vacuum & Mop in Graphite color.
At glance at core of the vacuum’s purpose, it does clean well. Its robot aspect does good support to map, avoid objects while cleaning, returning to the base.
The package includes:
1. The vacuum itself
2. Base Charging Station
3. Filter
4. Sweeping Brush (1 extra)
5. Combo Bin
6. Drip Tray
7. Microfiber Mopping Pad
8. Line Cord.
How long take to charge the battery to full:
I couldn’t find information of how long take, but from the usage, it took 1hr 24 min to fully charged.
How long take to vacuum (data from the usage and from the App):
A) With Bin for Sweeping Only: 1 Hour 6 Min to cover area of 822 ft2
B) With Mopping Bin: 1 Hour 55 Min with 47 Min and covered 769 ft2
C) With Bin for Sweeping Only: 25 Min to cover area of 191 ft2.
As side note, in some cases, it has Pause time that I couldn’t notice how it work but it add to the total time.
How often the bin need to be emptied:
The Bin is small that depending on how dirt is the space, it can fill very fast needing manually empty. From the application can set the option to continue working or stop and return to the base.
Using the combo bin to mop and vacuum, does it stop if it run out of water:
No. The vacuum using combo bin, it mop and vacuum. As it continue picking up on dirt, if the water bin is empty, it does following:
1. It continue and from the Application doesn’t have any option to control either to pause and return to the base
2. From the application can’t have visibility to the level of water either how much remain or if it has emptied such manually to pause and fill the tank.
What type of functionality includes via App:
1. Scheduling by Time, By Room and frequency
2. Map First Only function which allow to perform mapping only which is faster process.
3. Map while Vacuum
4. Edit label of the mapped rooms.
5. History
6. Add specific room names to Favorite dashboard allowing to Start from main screen
What does well from short time of usage:
1. Avoiding obstacle does work but sometime sort of not. In some cases, observed the vacuum avoided a doll on the floor. But it didn’t a shopping bag in the square shape. It did what does when approach a wall that is softly touch and bounce back.
2. Touching the wall or furniture: as mentioned above it touch sort of soft way and bounce back. Compared to other brand that sort of crash and damage furniture, j5 does bit better.
3. Human input to improve object recognition. Once it complete, via application checking the result, it ask to confirm either objects found during the process are temporary, or object to avoid then update to the database as optional.
4. Emptying the bin is bit easier compared to other brand. As it place for charging, the bin side stay at front opposed to the charging center. This help not having remove the entire vacuum in order remove the bin and place back.
5. Easy to set from app to start the vacuum a specific area. It does cover only that specified room name and return to the base.
6. Easy to specify which part of area not to vacuum or not to mop. This only work if the room name is well defined from the mapped area.
What doesn’t work well:
1. The bin is too small hence it is for short space or space with not much of dirt to pick up, small space to mop. Hence if use case is opposite or largely bigger, j5 is not for those who leave the house for work and comeback at night, as the vacuum wouldn’t have completed covering entire area.
2. The mapping doesn’t work well in the beginning or first couple of run. In the completed work, it include map option to see covered area. But it is not shown until after several run.
3. A bit noisy, but after having used two different brands with same issue, it seems universal subject. But this affect for those if work from home that require online meeting and attempt to clean the house.
To conclude, it does well vacuuming as robot. It has power for pickup dirts and mop well directed via App. It does recognize obstacles reasonably ok. But for being a vacuum without self emptying base, it is not for every use case and limit to users with small space or who reasonably maintain clean such doesn’t need to pick up too much dirt that full the bin fast.
Then the human input to improve object recognition, depending on preference might not be helpful as require to monitor constantly the result and manually intervene which is bit opposite to the idea of robot and automation.
So it is recommendable but for specific users base space and cleaning habit.

Looks good with iphone 15 pro max
on November 9, 2023
Posted by: MigDigital
Review of Insignia Hard-Shell Case with MagSafe for iPhone 15 Pro Max.
At glance, the installed case and the phone does’t feel heavy, and not very slippery as hold with one hand.
Placing the phone in the case is simple as snap in to the corner and side and light push it does fit without major effort.
The cut and cover for buttons fits exactly as is for the phone, and responsive to control each of buttons.
The color is Orange Gradient, but it feels more like glowing white with tone of yellow. The buttons are made of tone of orange and a bit shiny.
Now due to nature of the material, couple of aspect to list that I think it is a matter of getting used to:
1. Holding on hand, and specially with hand, sometime it feel it gonna slip but still hold good.
2. The back feels that with time it will become sticky like and magenta for dust.
Aside of the above listed observations, for the time of usage it feels great, not heavy, not bulky, still good holding on the hand when it is done properly, and look good on iPhone 15 pro max.

Powerful Cam and still compact w/ full of features
on October 25, 2023
Posted by: MigDigital
Review of Eufy SoloCam S340
The SoloCam S340 is a compact version compared to Dufy floodlight versions. Its camera makes unique with charging mode in battery or solar mode.
On the camera:
1. It has 3k wide angle lens
2. 135 degrees Field view
3. Large f/1.6 Aperture
4. 8X Hybrid Zoom
5. 2K Telephoto Lens
6. Day and Night capture image
Power:
1. 2 Hours of Solar Charging gives All-Day Power. From its specification, it use a called SolarPlus that makes charging possible under low light and optimization.
Weather Condition
1. -4F to 140F operating temperature
2. All Weather Resistant
Above specifications are the most to remark as uniqueness to the camera.
On the installation note, it is simple, a matter of selection of where and how to place. It comes with accessories to make easy for basic installation. It includes camera holding short arm, a holder for the solar panel. And long cable (usb-c to usb-c) to connect between solar panel and the camera. Additional charging cable usb-a to usb-c.
The connecting cable between solar panel and the camera are two part, in which plugins those, it has rubber based material that covers the join.
Adding to the Eufy Application require the normal connectivity instruction to WiFI, setting up the application and camera among some of task to complete to have the camera up and running. As rest of other devices, the process is simple without any major steps that complicate it.
Now, from the app, the view of camera shows quite impressive view, and easy to control. For having two camera, on the application appears the screen divided in two horizontally. On he top for far view, and bottom the closer look up.
Now as rest of Eufy Camera, the tracking is a bit challenge. For setting to track only human, where there is tree and high wind, it still considers human in movement.
Aside of this detail, having multiple cameras it place in one screen the activities from multiple camera following the time line. This is quite good feature as user don’t have to switch from device to device to see respective activities. (Cross Camera Tracking as per Eufy’s and require HomeBase S380)
Also, it has guardian light that act as spotlight that makes the S340 quite comprehensive security solution for its size.
What does well:
1. The camera feature and high resolution
2. Integrated charging mode via Solar panel
3. Good control via App
4. Alternative power via Battery that last 3 months for Stand Alone usage.
5. Feature for Band Tilt (Horizontal 360, Vertical 70)
Wish it does better:
1. Recognizing human vs auto vs tree movement. Living in high wind area, the movement of trees and plants are detected as human or auto and as result creates many alerts that are false alerts.
2. The USB-C port on back of the camera looks as it will not resist the water as it leave open air the connection. For fairness, it does fit securely and the material covering the connector are made of rubber alike material.

Good for starter w/ reasonable functionalities
on October 20, 2023
Posted by: MigDigital
The drone Snaptain E20 at first out of box feels simple, very light, and packaged with reasonable replacement spare propeller and accessories like carrying bag.
To start using require some prep work, not complicated, consisting of attaching the propeller guard, charge the remote and battery for the drone, download its app, and as good practice following the manual.
Attaching the propeller guard is simple, but need to take attention on where and how to grab as the guard attaching point’s little tip is weak prone to break easily.
Aside of this specific caution, the rest is simple. Downloading the app using the QR code from the guide, from there is straight forward to the drone functionality.
From the app and the remote control, the available functionalities are Flight Directions, Take OFF and Land with one button, Circle Fly, Trajectory Fly, Emergency Stop, and Find Your Drone (with some limitation as it is based on Remote control and not based on GPS location).
For images, it has separate buttons for taking photo and recording video available in the remote control or app, same for all of functionalities listed above.
1. Using the Phone and Remote Control
The remote control has unfolding and expandable clamp style phone holder. This allows to place phone different size of phone. Tried with iPhone 15 pro max, and 14 pro and fits well. However, a detail to take in account for small size or alike to the 14 pro size, as it is placed in the center, the holder press the phones side buttons causing different behaviors of phone functionality on the phone, As result need to move toward where the buttons are not being pressed by the holder.
Aside of the above detail, once placed as intended, then controlling was ok. Just a note on the controls:
1. Same functionalities are available on the phone and remote control. But on the phone, the icons for functionalities being white it was non identifiable depending on the view of camera.
2. The flight control to up/down/turn are only via remote control. Hence bit awkward having the video/photo/land/takeoff control on the phone.
2.Connection to Drone with the App
The app connect to the drone via WiFi SSID from the drone. Its process, doesn’t require any id verification or connection confirmation as from phone connect using WiFi Connection function.
Secondly, it allow to snap the connection to the drone from second phone via WiFi Connection. From the test, when the second phone connect to the drone, in the first phone shows lost connection and suggest to switch to cell data connection at least this was the case with iPhone.
But only the first phone was able to control the drone yet. The second phone didn’t have access despite of being connected to the drone SSID. I have to say something is off in this part and seems to fall short on the security.
Flying the drone:
1. Taking off is simple, by one push of button automatically starts moving the propeller and starts moving up. However landing it seems to vary. If try to land on let’s say a table, it doesn’t control the speed and sort of clash against the surface. But it was landing on the plain floor, it decreased the speed gradually for nice and soft land.
2. Moving toward front or backward, changing angle, it looks some time to get used. First couple time, it didn’t seem to move as intended.
3. On other functionality 3d Flip, Trajectory Flight and Circle Fly I didn’t feel confident on it hence haven’t tested.
Note on camera:
1. Photo Resolution for E20: 2976x1680 pixels
2. Video Resolution for E20: 1280x720@25fps (apps’s album) / 2976x1680@25fps (memory card)
Couldn’t find in the manual specification on the zoom. But baed on the test, it is limited if it is flight over 10ft and attempt to zoom in to more than 9 feet.
Note on charging:
Remote Control Charging time: apron 90 min
Drone Battery Charging time: aprox 4 hours dependable to power of charge
Note on else:
Wind Speed Resistance: 5m/s (level 2)
Charging cable is included only 1 when there are the battery to charge and separately the remote control.
For the closure, the drone seems good for starter, and the app seems to have some security flaw. For the app doesn’t require login which might be positive for the practicality perspective but might not be for security purpose. Then the connectivity to the drone is add-on to the security subject.
Th propeller guard easy come off so not sure how good protect the propeller during multiple usage. For last, the package doesn’t come with micro sd after all the other accessories needed.

Looking good on the phone and light case
on October 17, 2023
Posted by: MigDigital
The Casetify Mirror Case with MagSafe for iPhone 15 Pro Max at first impression out of box feels neat and well designed with details in mind.
Installing and removing the case:
The case is easy to place the phone and remove the phone. As placing the phone via the edge as slipping into the case, then pressing the other end does the job. To remove the phone is not hard as seems. By pushing slightly both end edge of the case, the phone comes out.
Feel on hand with the phone:
The case feels solid on hand. The border or covering edge is made of rubber like if not entirely, and doesn’t slip from the hand easily from normal usage context like typing a text.
Look and feel:
It looks clean as the edges are nicely fit with the phone. The buttons on the side are easily distinguishable without having to look at it.
The back side made for purpose of mirror first on hand as using the phone feels nice as it is solid and non slippery. However actual usage of back might be a bit of stress as it keep finger print all over and mostly wanna clean more frequently than non mirror based case.

Wish it does better:
Placing the phone on a surface that is not plain surface might damage easily the case. And therefore can’t place in any surface and uses need to be mindful if want to keep the mirror in good shape. It is the way I guess it is but wold be nice if the edge on the back would have same level of hight as the edge that cover the camera.
In bottom line, it is practical, light and looks good and feels comfortable using the phone with the case. The only downsides are as described above. And as side fun note, it come with a sticker for verification of genuine case form Casetify just incase need to double check its brand.

Review of Braided USB-C to Lighting Cable
The Braided USB-C to Lighting Cable by Insignia feel and look neat and clean design as unpacking from the box. It is white color with silver cover of each end makes good appealing from physical aspect.
Each end covered by silver coated plastic which end has a rubber covering the braided cable part. Unlike the cables by Apple as reference, it doesn’t feel to have same problem. Apple cables as it being used the end part of the cable become broken as usages involves bending part of the end while it is plugged or have in a bag. Whereas with the cable from Insignia that part feels strengthen better to avoid or minimize that type of problem.
On the cable itself, as is braided feels non slippery, solid material. Also it has an attached holder which is handy.
A details to remark from the brand specification which I find good to know.
1. It is MFi-certified
2. Braised jacket withstands up to 15,000 bends
3. Data transfer rate up to 480 Mbps.
From the above, although I couldn’t fully test to its specification, on Data Transfer, I did a back up from my iPhone 14 pro connected to MacBook. Usually with apple provided cable would takes me quite some time. But the same with Insignia felt the transfer was faster. Again, this is not considering exact data from iPhone to backup and not measuring exactly transfer rate as disclaimer.
What I wish it were better:
1. The thickness could be thicker although I think this depend on preference, as thicker is is bit heavier.
2. The cover of connector were metal.
3. The rubber attached to the cover feels it will come out as usage increase.
4. The cable feels will get dirt very fast considering its material and color.
In general it is good value for 10ft cable and with good data transfer rate at least compared to the provided by Apple.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Slim and perfect for quick typing experience

Review of Logi Pebble Keys 2 K380
The keyboard at glance is compact and simple, reasonably light, built material is for everyday use enough not being a premium alike. Being made with recycled plastic, can’t tell much the difference at bare eyes.
The keyboard charged with two batteries of AAA (Alkaline Battery). It has On/Off button which is handy option for most of cases of traveling or moving around and need to connect with multiple devices.
Connectivity is standard as is available for most of Logi keyboards. Consisting of Bluetooth, compatible with Bolt USB receiver which is not included with the keyboard, and its wireless coverage range is 32.8 ft. according to its specification.
It allow to connect to up to 3 different devices via three different buttons, same as it is in other multiple connectivity keyboard from Logi. Then about 10 keys can be customized via Logi Option+ App.
The process of connection and setting up is quite same as of rest of keyboards from Logi. But going in deep into the usage experience where does make the difference have to comment that:
1. Typing:
A) the keys buttons feels quite small as type. If compare with MX keys side to side, it doesn’t look bi difference, just Pebble Keys are rounded maintaining same dimension as is the square keys. In another word, looks like the form was cut and paste of the center of the square form of the key for MX Keys Mini for instance.
B) the feeling of actual typing at first feels bit hard as there isn’t that bouncing alike feeling and mostly feel touching the bottom of the hardware.
C) Need some time to get used to for feeling small keys. Moreover if user have big hand, not sure how well will suite to the typing experience.
2. Responsiveness: each keys are function well as intended upon typing or pressing the functional button. Just takes some time to get used to as the finger memorize the place of each key in a compact space of the keyboard is the Pebble Keys 2.
3. Setting with Logi Option: it is straight forward, and helps customize easily similar to rest keyboards from Logi.
What I wish it would do or support:
1. Using with iPad Pro, can’t customize the buttons as Logi Option+ or alike application is not supported for tablet. Hence it is not optimized for the tablets or mobile devices.
2. Bit more lighter would be optimal as the keyboard feels suitable for mobility due to its size and slim design.
3. Charging mode. This might differ from person to person, but I would have preferred charging via usb instead of the battery. Considering it is built with recycling material and being conscious of environment and sustainability, it feels it missed this point of view.
The Pebble Keys 2 K380 is slim and simple, and light in its category. After using between notebook and tablet, I feel it is more suitable to use mostly with tablets that doesn’t need long hours of typing. If not for toddlers and those that doesn’t have big hand would be the right type of users. But definitely it is not everybody.
As last comments:
1. ,The keyboard doesn’t have backlit keyboard, but in the dark kind of still the keys are visible due to the white glare reflection from the screen.
2. Battery life seems superb. Had it using for about two weeks weeks and always connected, and still its status shows 100%.

Good preventive tool for mobile online experience
on August 26, 2023

This is a review of McAfee - Mobile Security (1 Device) Antivirus Internet Security Software + VPN + ID Monitoring (1 Year Subscription) - Android, Apple iOS, Chrome [Digital].
The is handy but only basic coverage to protect from security risk while using mobile devices. It include option to Wi-Fi Scan, System Scan, Secure VPN, Safe Browsing, and Id Monitoring.
Except of VPN services, the rest are preventive than actionable to address the risk I my view. First as connecting to wifi in any coffee places for instance, and browsing are common situation that with WiFi Scan and Safe Browser can lower the risk of being hacked or install virus.
For ID monitoring is basically what data has been breached and warning to address it by taking action as the user, not by the the McAfee service which require additional paid service.
Regarding VPN service, it offer 38 countries to connect from + one generic for Fastest. Previous to activating it ask to accept terms that McAfee use some of personal data and network that is connected on. Afterward, it is simple to activate and select from what countries to connect.
During the usage of VPN, I find that often can’t access to certain known business sites unless I disconnect from WiFi or unable the VPN and open the site and then activate back. Also, noticed certain emails from known business or organizations doesn’t show the content that makes bit upsetting moment.
Furthermore, while leaving the device for the night with VPN enabled, next morning happen that the VPN is disabled.
The application is good to have and helpful from preventive action. Although it has some funky way the VPN works, but still serve well the purpose.

Pixel Buds A-Series bring you rich, high-quality sound for a lot less than you’d expect. Their beamforming mics help make calls crystal clear.*** The flush-to-ear design is stylish, and the stabilizer arc keeps them in place so you can wear them even during the sweatiest workout.**

Does Google pixel buds pair with iPhones?

it can be paired and use well with its limitation to use voice control as it work only with Hey Google. (answer based on usage with iPhone12 Pro Max)

I have a Sony tv with eARC hdmi. I use a Polk magnifi max that does not indicate it has eARC. Will the enhancements of eARC be available anyway or do we all have to buy new sound equipment to take advantage if the new technology.

I connected to TV with non eARC hdmi and worked ok.

It says that it is for the third gen and the 4th gen iPad, but the camera for the iPad Pro 4th gen (2020) is different as the third gen (2018) iPad so for which ipad is this case?

it works for 2020, haven't tried on 3rd generation
