Great TV for the price!!!

I must say for $599 this is an great tv.
First of all this TV supports HDR 10 and Dolby Vision out of the box, offers Full Array Local Dimming with 72 zones which provides very deep blacks, and reaches over 700 nits of peak brightness during HDR content(comparable to the 2017 Oled's in HDR brightness). Also, the TCL is one of the best gaming TV's you can buy due to it being measured to have one of the lowest input lag measurements in a TV to date at around 15ms. This TV has the roku smart interface built in with Netflix, Vudu, and Youtube all supporting HDR.
In my living room, i have an LG OLED 65C7 and this TCL in my bedroom. In no way am i saying this TCL comes close to the OLED because it doesnt; however, Imo the TCL gets you to about 75% - 80% of the picture quality of the OLED and the price difference is $2,499(OLED 55 inch version) to $599(TCL). That's an amazing price/perfomance ratio.
The TCL does have its flaws such as some Flashlighting and black uniformity issues. While watching contect these issues were not really noticeable. The TCL for some reason does not engage the Full Array local dimming until content is started, so while checking menu's and apps the flashlighting is noticeable because the local dimming is off. Hopefully, this will be fixed with a Firmware update. Also, one thing i did was massage the corners of the panel and it cleared up a good amount of the flashlighting/light bleed i was having. So maybe the quality control with these units could be better. Also, the viewing angles aren't good at all; however, that's an issue all LCD TV's suffer from. Lastly, this is a 60hz panel so for those who are used to 120hz it might be a negative. Compared to my 120hz OLED C7, i saw no noticeable motion issues with this 60hz TCL.
Summary:
Positives.
10 bit Panel
4k, HDR 10, Dolby Vision
Dolby Atmos over HDMI/ARC
FALD 72 zones
Dark Black levels and above 700 nit peak HDR Brightness
15ms input lag in 1080p and 4k HDR gaming
Roku Smart platform
Negative.
Viewing angles
Flashlighting(however it is normally present during content)
60hz panel(however motion was excellent to me)
For $599, you get features offered with the High end Sony 55X930e at $1,799, or the LG OLED 55 LG B6($1,999) or C7($2,499). Sure they are much better TV's; however, the fact that i can even compare this $599 TV to those TV's costing thousands more is amazing. Even with the negative with this TCL, I had to give it 5 stars because for the money its an amazing TV. I think getting 80% percent of the performance of High End TV's for nearly $2,000 less is an amazing value.

Great 4k hdr blu ray player

I initially purchased the Sony x800 4k blu ray player and I liked it; however, the player would freeze consistently. So I returned it, and purchased this lg. I must say the picture quality is indistinguishable between the lg and the Sony. Netflix and YouTube hdr play without any issues on this player; however, on the Sony hdr would not engage at times when viewing YouTube and Netflix hdr. Don't get me wrong the Sony is a great bluray player in its own right and maybe I just had a bad unit, but picture quality wise this lg is right there with it. The lg will receive a Dolby vision update and is cheaper at the moment. Build quality is where the Sony has the advantage but I purchased this player for how it plays my movies and not how much it weighs or the design. I've had no issues with noise even while playing Sony discs as some have reported. My player build date was April 2017 so maybe that's why. This is a great player and you can't go wrong selecting this player especially if you a Dolby vision enabled tv.
