Two fine Roy Atlantic albums get re-released on CD

I already had Loading Zone on CD (& LP). I've been waiting three decades for You're Not Alone to be issued again on CD. I took the first two You're Not Alone LPs back to the store due to noise in the pressing. After the third made the same noise I guessed it was the stamper, and I gave up. Both are great Roy albums.
Now I have set aside my other Loading Zone CD for this one. Loading Zone was produced by Stanley Clarke, who also picks up his bass for a couple cuts. It is a jazzier strong major label release.
The capper of this two CD set is that You're Not Alone is now available in a remastered CD. "Remastered in 2017 by Andrew Thompson at Sound Performance, London," a great job, spacious sound quality, plus no noisome surface noise. The remastering is perfect, clear, distinct and loud but not ear-shattering or distorted. The first track was used for the title credits for Carl Sagan's ("billions and billions") 1980's original PBS TV series, Cosmos. This sets the tone for the album, a little spacier, a little bluesier, a little Pink Floyd-ish, a rousing rocker in places with two covers, Joe Walsh's Turned To Stone and Neil Young's Down By The River, both later frequent visitors to Roy's live set.
Roy was a unique guitarist who needs to be experienced in order to understand. Sadly Roy has been gone from this world for a long time, but his music will live here forever. Get these two enjoyable RB albums, one once hard or expensive to find on CD, now that this set is available.

Ray Davies shows that he is still alive

Ok, he is a great songwriter and the leader of The Kinks. The Jayhawks are his backing band, It is his first new solo album in ten years. This should have everything going for it but it just comes off mediocre upon the first listen. It is not a bad album, it just doesn't have any memorable moments, like nothing to sing after the album is over. Also the album is mastered loud (not a usual result from Bob Ludwig, probably tweeked by the label before release), and being a long album, the stress on the ears wears down the enjoyment of this disc.
It may improve for me on a second listen, but because of the mastering, it may be awhile before I put it on again.

This 2014 CD makes the digital debut of nine tracks in their original set which was released in 1971 on vinyl. This posthumously release collects cuts Jimi completed but never found a home. There is the blistering, definitive version live from Berkley in 1970 of "Hear My Train A Comin'." Even though all these strays had been released digitally on other Hendrix scattered compilation CDs, it is nice to have them all gathered back in their original abode. Wonderful Jimi Hendrix music & great remastering by Bernie Grundman.

The disc was originally a boutique Barfko-Swill only 2013 release. This is a UMe 2017 US CD general release reissue of original September 1974 Frank Zappa mixes & edits of an August 27, 1974 show. Previously these songs, if not these exact performances, were material that had been used to construct earlier releases like Roxy & Elsewhere, Roxy By Proxy, and a majority of The Dub Room Special. Enjoy the great versatility and virtuosity of the Roxy band, including George Duke, Napoleon Murphy Brock & Ruth Underwood.

Another FZ Synclavier Opus

This is another Frank in his basement laboratory collection of Synclavier electronic compositions. Three tracks include the Tuvan throat singers, and there is the final morsel of Frank's guitar playing as well. Not his magnum opus, but a strong contender, and more accessable than Civilization Phase III.

Frank, Flo & Eddie strike again

The Zappa Family Trust (ZFT) releases the third in a series of live recordings called Road Tapes from Frank's vault. Even though the ZFT calls these "guerrilla" recordings, the sound quality (SQ) is far superior than most bootleg recordings, and much better than the Beat The Boots FZ releases 25 years ago, and rivals the SQ many other bands professionally recorded and released products. Even though the vocals are somewhat diminished in the mix, this is still a fine, swinging recording.
As for this set, it is mostly true stereo recordings of two vaudeville band (with "Flo & Eddie") shows on 6/5/70. Vaultmeister Joe Travers had to tinker with the first 35 minutes of the first show as the tape used was not new, but had been previous recorded on and erased, so some studio trickery was used to eliminate the backward recording that had bled through in some of the quieter passages. Still, these two worthwhile raw shows released from the FZ time capsule.
Many FZ classics are performed. Two "King Kong" tunes are in the first set, the second one, an wondrous extended workout. In the second set, Holiday In Berlin is performed with lyrics, the first official release in this form.
Great to hear these shows and "The Nancy And Mary Music" from Chunga's Revenge, assembled from various extracts from these performances, in context after all these years knowing that these shows have existed for 45 years in the FZ vault.

Great replacement DVI cable

A PC monitor cable got lost in a move. This cable was pricey (but not as expensive as other electronic retailers) but worked great. It appears to be compatible with most original equipment cables shipped with the monitor. Compatibility to DVI connectors is printed on the packaging.

As for this set, segments from three shows in late August of 1973 were selected and rearranged by ZFT Vaultmeister Joe Travers on to two discs in order to simulate a best of single show, with overall outstanding results (there is a finale of the first show at the end of disc 1).
As for the music, this is the notorious Roxy band, which many FZ fans consider one, if not the, best line ups. This stereo recording features many popular FZ tunes with different arrangements, such as "Pojama People" in a 1940 jazz lounge rendition. Also there is lots of solo improvisations by band members inside some of Frank's blowing war horses, and a lot of tasty guitar. This also only live official ZFT release that includes Jean Luc Ponty in the band. Fans of You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Volume 2, also a Helsinki Finland FZ show recording, will also enjoy this as there is little overlap and much diversity between the two recordings.

This show had been previously released as disc 4 in the Stages box set, which has been out of print for decades. The new Freedom set expands the release over two discs, adding five songs, all with new remastering to an exciting live show. The booklet gives the background of 200,000 fans baking all day in the 100 degree Georgia heat, then staying up all night to hear Hendrix. Well worth the wait.
Note: this is the same festival that the Allman Brothers Band released their two performances on a 2 CD set. It is essentially the same recording setup for Jimi's show.

I cannot answer this question from my own experience. I do not think you can run two different input sources at the same time as there is no way to select more than one source at a time, so I will go with a no.
I am still setting up additions to this receiver. I only have one room in 5.1 and it sounds great, with CD/HD-DVD and X1 TV. What I like is that there are six HDMI inputs so now my TV, which has only one HDMI input, now will have several input sources. Will be adding Blu-Ray and SACD players, as well as a turntable
If you decide to get this receiver, order enough banana plugs for your speaker wires, it will make installation much easier as the wire connects are a tight fit.
