I needed something like this to format new SSDs to install in my computers. You could get the cord adapter that plugs into a USB3 port but this is a much nicer item to use and even looks nice on your desk. The LED power light is a little bright though.

Great little computer for Windows 8

While not a powerhouse this fairly small box provides a quiet but nicely powered computing experience. Not quick enough for gaming but for you regular home computing needs this would be a nice addition to you home. Do remember to get a touch screen monitor and get what Windows 8 has to offer in the way it was designed. You can use a mouse with little trouble (and I do sometimes) but once you get used to touch it starts to feel nice. If you are looking for something for the kitchen, family room, or really just about anyplace you want to sometimes have a desktop this would be a great choice.

Currently I have not mounted this outside. I am waiting for my house to be finished. Then I will get to see how good it is at a distance but close to the source antennas the picture quality is superb. I did have to prop it up at an angle because the antennas are on top of Cheyenne Mountain and I am 5000 ft. lower. From my house it will be a straight shot and I have great expectations.

I love the Paperwhite reader. Even though the battery life isn't what I hoped for I have to admit that I do get a lot of reading done between charges but I read a lot. Can change type size and font with ease as well as the backlight when needed. Could use a little better programming for the screen where you select what book you want to read but otherwise all I can say is GREAT.

My Windows 7 laptop crashed. Will this transfer ALL the data and programs (including favorites,etc) from the old (removable) hard drive to my new Windows 10 laptop easily and without other software or eqmt being purchased or messing up W10?
This unit doesn't have any smarts in it. You would need software to make a true copy of the old drive. You can copy all your favorites, program data, photos, etc. but any programs would need to be reinstalled if you just copy them onto the new drive. If you don't copy the system files from Windows 7 Windows 10 shouldn't have any problem with anything else.

Will this device transfer the old music & photos from a PS3 HDD that was removed when a PS3 system failed due to an unrelated problem? The pix stored on it are dear and unreplaceable & the music is quite old & hard to find as well.

How much RAM is the maximum amount you can expand to?
The board should be expandable to 8 gig. You will need to replace the included memory with larger memory instead of just adding in the new. The card is the same as what you would use in a laptop.
