In the fourth season of this family cop drama, Frank (Tom Selleck) must deal with an NYPD inspector (Bebe Neuwirth), and he's not happy about his police force being subjected to this extra level of scrutiny. One of the inspector's first targets is Eddie (Vanessa Ray) a rookie who's been partnered with Jamie (Will Estes). Jamie lands in plenty of hot water himself throughout the season, including a suspension and a civil suit. However, things get downright dangerous for Erin (Bridget Moynahan), who's legal work leads her to get abducted--twice. Meanwhile, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) faces several blasts from the past, including an old girlfriend who's dating a drug dealer, a childhood pal connected to the mob and a troubled military vet who stirs up dark memories for him. Season Two of TNT's police procedural series Major Crimes -- a sequel to its earlier hit "The Closer" -- opens with Captain Sharon Raydor (Mary McDonnell) in a comfortable place at work, having secured the full trust and loyalty of her subordinates. Complications begin to arise on the homefront, however -- first with possible threats to the safety of Rusty Beck (Graham Patrick Martin), the teenage murder witness whom Sharon has taken under her wing, and then involving Jack (Tom Berenger), Sharon's ex-husband -- an attorney who resurfaces and tries to re-enter her life. Meanwhile, the department must work its way through cases including that of a missing child with gender dysphoria, a Latino man who turns up dead at a swimming coach's house, a spree killer who wreaks havoc on the community, and much more.
The fifth season of the legal drama begins with Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Cary (Matt Czuchry) secretly planning their exit from Lockhart/Gardner in order to start their own firm. But their plans are pushed into overdrive when Will (Josh Charles) learns about them and angrily confronts Alicia. Meanwhile, Eli (Alan Cumming) tries to secure Diane's Supreme Court nomination, but her candidacy puts her at odds with her colleagues. A bigger problem for Diane (Christine Baranski), however, is the way she treats Alicia upon her exit, which doesn't sit well with now-governor Peter Florrick (Chris Noth). But that's the least of his problems. Peter is investigated by a determined agent (Eric Bogosian) from the Office of Public Integrity on suspicion of voter fraud. At the new Florrick/Agos, accountant Clarke Hayden (Nathan Lane) joins the firm, while at Lockhart/Gardner Will goes against Diane's wishes and hires shady lawyer Damian Boyle (Jason O'Mara), who has ties to organized crime.
