Very nice addition to the home theater

Having recently finished a room in our basement, we wanted to refresh some of our older surround speakers. We visited the Magnolia demo room and we were blown away by the BW speakers. We started with new bookshelf speakers, then added subwoofer, center and these wonderful surround speakers. We could not be happier with the sound quality.
The only caution I would offer is the monopole/dipole option is a bit misleading. There is a pretty good description of the different uses, but I did not realize that changing the switch would result in turning off the unused speakers - meaning when on dipole, the two 'center' speakers are off (no sound) and the two side speakers are used. Likewise, when going to monopole, the side speakers are disabled in favor of the two center speakers. What a difference is makes too, in a good way. I tend to switch them when I'm listening to vinyl, then back when we watch a movie.
I cannot say enough good things about Bowers-Wilkins speakers. They are not inexpensive, but are very much worth the investment.

This is our first venture into Yamaha home stereo equipment. The old Onyko was just getting too hot every time we used it and I was ready to upgrade. I visited the Magnolia section of our local BB and listened to several other brands, then read the reviews here - decided on this unit. To my surprise, it was on sale and marked down on checkout. Even better.
The setup was pretty simple - we just finished a new room in the basement, had new wiring to connect and new Bowers-Wilkens 685 S2 speakers as well. The network features of this unit were one of the key selling points as well as all the HDMI inputs. After it was all connected, we used the mic to setup the speakers. Could not have been simpler or faster.
We have watched a few movies, listened to some CD's and also got the turntable connected to really get back into the audio world again.
Overall we are very pleased with the sound, the menu choices, the setup - it just works and the sale price made this a no brainer of a choice.

Okay, so it has been 25+ years since I had a functional turntable, and at the time the one I had was a good, direct drive unit. But this blows it away. Man have I missed vinyl! Our daughter has a friend with one of these and he love his. So when her cheap turntable needed an upgrade, we bought this unit and loved it so much, we went back the very next day and got one for ourselves.
The construction is high quality, the unit is very heavy. It was packed incredibly well and the setup instructions were very clear.
We are really enjoying the sound, the old records we saved and the new 180g/200g reprints we are buying around town.
This unit is worth every penny - excellent quality!

No knock on this product, it was my error - did not realize my speaker wire gauge was too small to fit correctly in these banana plugs. My only feedback or advice might be to have the gauge clearly indicated on the outside of the box and/or know that you need heavy gauge wire for these to work properly. Overall, very good quality.

This is my first pair of BW speakers, they replaced old Infinity that had seen better days. We only have about 10 hours on them, but you can really hear the quality and clarity of sound. Connected them in a newly finished basement room along with a new Yamaha RX-A750. I have had a variety of 'good' speakers over the last 30 years (Bose, Klipsch, Infinity) but these BW's are the very best ever.

Will the Fitbit Flex withstand my 2 hr. Water aerobics class?
As long as the tracker stays out of direct or prolonged contact with water, you are okay.

Husband has pacemaker and sleep Apnea. Is this ok for him to use?
He has had 3 mild heart attacks, diabetes, lil over weight, pacemaker and has sleep apnea. What do you think????? He is now exercising, losing weight and uses little to non of the pacemaker. Want to get one for him for his Bday :)
Best to consult your doctor and not trust any advice you get from here :-) The tracker uses Bluetooth only, so it should not interfere with a pacemaker, but talk to your doctor to confirm 100%. Hope this helps.

Information says fitbit is water resistant (this model). Has anyone used it to walk in a pool? If so does it truly keep the water out?
Using fitbit in water / pool to measure steps.
My advice would be to be careful. Water resistant is not waterproof. Take from someone who washed a FitBit twice. It survived the first wash, but not the second. That's not exactly the same situation as walking in a pool, but I can tell you it cannot survive underwater or prolonged contact with water. But if you walk in the pool and keep the tracker from going under water, you should be okay. Hope this helps.

What version of the Apple iOS is this compatible with?
A visit to the Apple App Store will answer your question. iOS compatibility is tracked there. I just checked and it stated "Requires iOS 7.0 and later". Hope this helps.

why does the mileage and calorie count on the treadmill and eliptical at the gym differ so much from the fitbit? The calories are almost 3x higher on
The gym machines may not be as personalized as the FitBit tracker. For any device (wearable tracker, treadmill, elliptical, etc) to accurately count calories, the device needs to know gender, height and weight. Otherwise they all just make calculated guesses. Hope this helps.
