Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that, while not widescreen, does in fact mirror the director's original intentions for the film (he reportedly shot it so that the frame could be cropped without compromising the integrity of the image). English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a making-of documentary and a theatrical trailer.

I love this movie... I purchased it again because the one I had started playing blurred. If you are a movie buff like me you cannot have a movie collection without this movie. Jack is OUTSTANDING as is the rest of the characters. This movie was well before its time and still outshines alot of scary and drama movies made today.
This movie was above ok... Ving Rhames plays his part down to the T... I'm really surprised he hasn't been on the big screen in major movies here recently. He is awesome and always plays his part. The only other good in the movie was his body guard Double Barrel (I believe was the name)... just ruthless and down for his boss till the end. Pam Grier was a little over the top and a little over zealous for me in this movie. They could've toned her down a little. I would recommend this movie only if you are a Ving Rhames fan! Otherwise save your money.
