The comic book comes to life with director/star Warren Beatty's colorful adaptation of Dick Tracy. Buena Vista has done a fine job with this 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. The colors and black levels are all rich and very detailed without any major imperfections marring the image. While this is not a perfect looking picture (there is a slight amount of edge enhancement in a few key scenes), overall fans will be happy to receive this film in its original aspect ratio with a 16x9 enhancement. The soundtrack is presented in two options: Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and DTS 5.1 Surround, both in English. Both of these soundtracks are utilized well with a vast amount of directional effects and surround sounds swirling around the viewer. All aspects of the mix are free of any excessive hiss or distortion. Also included on this disc is a Dolby Digital Stereo mix in French along with English closed captions Alas, while rumblings of a full blown special edition have been around, this first ever DVD release of Dick Tracy has been slapped on a completely bare bones disc.
Directed by Garry Marshall, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement picks up where its predecessor left off -- that is, with American teenager Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) reeling over the news that she is a princess within the royal family of Genovia, a little-known European nation with a population of barely 50,000. As promised, Mia, along with her best friend, Lily (Heather Matarazzo), travels to Genovia after their high-school graduation. The unlikely princess has hardly settled into the castle, let alone begun representing the country, when she learns that a larger title is approaching more rapidly than expected; it seems as though Mia will have to take over as queen. Suddenly, in addition to further schooling on the etiquette of royalty, Mia finds herself with a daunting prospect -- according to Genovian law, all princesses must be married before they can be crowned. In addition to Julie Andrews' reprisal of her role as Queen Clarisse Renaldi, The Princess Diaries 2 also features Hector Elizondo and John Rhys-Davies in supporting roles. Though Princess Diaries author Meg Cabot did pen a sequel (The Princess Diaries: Princess in the Spotlight), this film is not an adaptation.
Disney produced this distilled Hitchcockian suspense yarn, diluted for the consumption of children. Hayley Mills stars as Nikky Ferris who is spending time in Crete at a small inn called The Moon-Spinners with her Aunt Frances (Joan Greenwood). One day Nikky discovers a handsome young man, Mark Camford (Peter McEnery), wounded in an empty church nearby. It turns out that Mark was once a London bank messenger, but he lost his job after a major jewel robbery. Tagged as a suspect, Mark has made his way to the inn to gather evidence against the inn's owner, Stratos (Eli Wallach), who Mark thinks is the real jewel thief. Nikky and Mark fall in love and decide to capture Stratos together. Silent screen vamp Pola Negri makes a luminous appearance as a jewelry aficionado.

In addition to the original English soundtrack, the adventure drama can be viewed with an optional French-dubbed track and/or Spanish subtitles. Writer John McGreevey's script was based on a true story.
