Wonderful movie, great characters, story& location

This is based on Hardy's book, but it's not like the previous version that was made with Julie Christy. Yes, Bethsheba is the main female character, however the main focus is on the farmer & not the soldier. Mathias Schoenaerts plays the role beautifully and .what he does with his eyes alone, speaks volumes! Michael Sheen is excellent. All roles are great. The location in Dorcet is exceptional. This movie is done in bright tones and is NOT dull & drab as many are depicted in the time period. This is a time piece that is done in the country. The costumes are colorful, detailed and correct for this era and place. Carey Mulligan is great & her beautifully colored fabrics & patterns in her clothing speaks truth in her character. This movie has a few surprises & a great ending. This is not a dull & lifeless movie. I enjoy it more each time.

Good basic blu ray player

This was a gift for my sister & her husband for Christmas. The Price was less just a month ago. It seems prices do go up for the holidays on many items; not everything is on sale. I would have given it a better rating if I had gotten a better & fair price for this basic blu-ray player. I choose a Sony because it is less problematic for a basic blu-ray player. I don't know how well the wi fi works since they do not have that tech in their home. I paid extra for gift wrap since it was being delivered. That was a waste of money; it came in plain dull gray paper & nothing to say "this is a Christmas gift".

This version is really fantastic with a great story. The added does to a movie what "tragic Relief" does to a play. This movie is very well crafted. The visuals, the costumes, sets...all A+!!
Very few weak acting spots. All characters are well developed and add to this romantic-horror story.

I have all 4 Alien dvds, but now they are all together on blu ray with lots of extras!! What a difference to watch on blu ray, with high hd tv & a home theater system. It reminds me of actually seeing them when they came out in the movie theater, except without the very long lines.I love what each director & writer brings to each movie and yes...Joss Whedon wrote one of them; wonder why Ron Perlman is so funny?? Joss wrote alot of humor in "Serenity" and some of that shows up in
Alien Resurrection",but of course having a French director didn't hurt.
I prefer "Alien" 1st ; it just blew me away from the "usual" sci-fi flicks of that era. Dirty, gritty & realistic.... However, "Aliens" was just as entertaining and I am so glad Sigourney Weaver got nominated for an Oscar. How often does that happen in sci -fi???!! I wish "Alien 3" was as good, but it did open the door to a sequel. Ripley's DNA was gonna come back & bite someone.

I'm glad I purchased this new printer; the ink costs alot less money than it did for my 7 year old cannon. Ink dries quick & not having any problems with cartridge. Shipping was quicker than expected, but should have been shipped in small box, not flimsy bag to prevent damage during shipping. Fortunately there was no damage.

C S Lewis would be proud of the excellent quality of this movie. It includes great morals, excellent acting, story line, characters and you can actually learn about good truths while enjoying a great action movie at the same time. The story is so well written; the music, characters , costumes as well as the timing carries you along to enjoy this well made movie. It sparks my interest to see the sequels. I never read the books, but the movie has peaked my interest. I am a huge "Lord of the Rings" fan & didn't realize that I would enjoy this movie as much as I did. Plus there is so much moral & spiritual depth that I was not expecting which added to a richer experience.

This was a new take on Dracula. There are some historical facts plus the "Hollywood" versions as well. Movie was fun to watch; great characters like Luke Evans & Charles Dance made it much more interesting. Good action, romance and well shot effects.I hope there is a sequel. A different version from the usual Dracula movies. Lots of potential for sequels as I said before. Special Features have lots of spoilers; DO NOT watch until after you watch the movie!!

Not typical time travel scifi; more mind candy

Well done for a low budget movie of this type. Lots of interesting dialogue that tells a very unusual story. Ethan Hawke's character draws you into a different type of story that is mostly about the people. It is driven by events regarding "Jane" played very well by Sarah Snook. There are no flashy modern time travel gadgets with the typical big money budget effects, yet there is a sophistication to the effects. This movie was done on a low budget, but you don't feel that when watching this movie. There is a simplicity to this character driven story that allows you to become involved & interested in their lives. I felt like I was traveling in a circle that led and continued on to a path that at 1st I did not find predictable. And as to the moments that led where I thought they would lead, I still found them interesting due to the storytelling. The music by Peter Spierig fit perfectly. This movie has a different style, look, pace as well as the character's unusual story line .
I found myself completely engaged in this movie. I also felt free to see many interpretations that this film was eluding to. I wish there was a commentary to go with this movie by the Spierig Brothers.
