I own two of these, but the other one has a higher storage capacity. It works just like a regular USB drive. I plugged it in and my phone recognized it right away; no APPS needed to install. I just could not transfer, copy, or save the docs or pictures I have from my phone to the Sandisk storage device. Either I haven't learned that action yet, or it (Sandisk device) or my phone does not allow that feature.

It protects my Surface computer very well. My only inconvenience is that when I carry it around or travel with it, the pen could be pulled out or pushed out of the pen holder accidentally. I wish the pen holder has an added strap for security.

I like the item. It works as it said. The only inconvenience I had was I had to download an app before it would work. I had to do it in every IPad or IPhone I wanted to use it. Unlike a regular USB drive that I can just plug in and use in any of my computers, no apps needed. I hope Sandisk will make it that way.
