I'd say this is the first lens you should buy after getting an a600/6300/6500. At $250 it's a bit of a steal. Great portrait lens. Fast and provides great bokeh. Maybe the 35mm is better suited for your needs, but for the price difference I'll take a few steps back when shooting.

Maybe this is a good UV filter if you need one, but I have found that UV filters are pretty useless. Maybe they help protect the lens, but I think they take away image quality, and even scratched lenses work pretty well. I'm sure some people swear by UV filters. i just don't see a need.

This camera gets glowing reviews and it is a few years old. Yes, it's great for a beginner, but I don't know why an advanced user wouldn't want it as well. If it's being used for video I would probably recommend the 6300 or 6500 since this doesn't have 4k. I use it strictly for stills. I do real estate photography and landscapes and architecture as a hobby and this camera works extremely well for those purposes. The kit lenses are just fine for most people. I have added a couple to my arsenal for select purposes, but I have gotten some great images with the kit lenses.

I bought this for my seven year old son. I have to say that the staff at Best Buy have gotten incredibly more helpful over the past few years. I was ready to buy an iMac. I'm a Mac guy. I despise windows, but this machine was solely for my son to play games on. The associate talked me out of the Mac and sold me on the benefits of this far more powerful machine that would much better suit his needs now and in the future.
After getting it home and the ridiculously long set up time, I was somewhat regretting not going with the Mac, but my son was able to get it going and nearly a month later it's still running bug free. I personally hate using it, but that's strictly due to it being a windows 10 machine and not being what I'm now used to. My son loves it and it does play games flawlessly without lag. For the price, I would recommend it even if you didn't want it for gaming. It's a very powerful machine. It specs out better than my MacBook pro which casts nearly double. I'm sure it's great at photo editing just like my Mac. I just prefer to dance with the devil I know.
