Overhyped, but still pretty good.

There's been a ton of hype for this movie, and while a lot of it is extremely blown out of proportion, "Black Panther" is still a very good movie that's required viewing for anyone keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Since this is T'Challa's first solo venture, the vast majority of the movie is dedicated to introducing characters, as well as showing off the primary setting of Wakanda itself. There's a lot of interesting stuff here to build stories around, which I imagine we'll see once a "Black Panther" sequel inevitably comes out.
The action's pretty decent for what it is, though it takes a bit of a back seat to character building. Even the titular role that T'Challa takes on isn't in it as much as you'd expect for a superhero flick. This isn't a bad thing, per say, but if you go in expecting it to be all action like the trailer would imply, you might feel a bit disappointed.
Still, as I said, this is a pretty good movie, and is enjoyable enough. Plus, if you have yet to see "Avengers: Infinity War", this is practically required viewing before doing so.

It's more than likely that most people who have seen the movie need no introduction or reason to pick up the blu-ray of it. For everyone else who is wondering just what the craze was or if Disney still has that spark, all I can say is "yes".
For those tired of seeing Frozen's snow-covered landscapes plastered on posters and tons of other merchandise, Moana trades all that in for a beautiful tropical setting, and has a story that appeals to all ages young and old, and boys and girls can all enjoy. The characters are great, the songs are terrific, and you'll often be smiling with glee, laughing, or on the verge of tears.
In short, this is just another of Disney's greatest modern hits as they continue to be on a roll for the past seven years.

A great new take on the classic movie monster icon

I'll have to admit first of all that a lot of my interest in seeing this movie was due to the fact that it's set in the same universe of Legendary's 2014 Godzilla movie (which goes under the title of the MonsterVerse), so I was curious as to what sort of nods to that would appear.
But, I was actually surprised at just how much I enjoyed the movie, considering that, while I don't necessarily mind the character of King Kong, I was never one to seek out material related to him (again, lifelong Godzilla fan). And certain elements of this movie seemed to be a response to the criticisms of Legendary's previous film (mostly a more frequent appearance of the title monster).
I think the best way to describe this would be to say that it's a Vietnam-era war movie, crossed with a giant monster movie. It's got a little bit of everything; lots of action, frequent moments of suspense, and a lot of intrigue that makes you wonder just what's going on in this universe. There's also plenty of nods to older King Kong movies that should get a smile out of fans. And without spoiling anything, I will say to make sure you do not turn off the movie once the credits roll, as the scene afterwards will get you primed for what's to come.
If you're a fan of giant monster movies, you'll probably dig this one, too.

A nice, affordable figure for Starfox fans

For those not familiar with these, Amiibos are collectible figures that also contain an NFC chip to unlock bonuses in various Nintendo games. Some of these are minor, while others will unlock stuff like costumes, making them rather sought-after by collectors. In the case of Falco, his main function is unlocking a trainable AI-controlled character on Super Smash Bros.
The figure itself is nicely detailed, with Falco placed in a dynamic action pose (basically the same as the Fox amiibo) and just in general looking ready for battle. If you're a fan of the character, you'll probably enjoy it, especially since there isn't much merchandise of him otherwise.
I picked him up for rather cheap ($5 as of this writing), so he seems to be in the process of getting cleared out of stores and is possibly discontinued, so if you've been deciding whether or not to add him to your collection, I don't think you're going to get a better price.

A fun, dark sci-fi romp for RPG and action fans

This is a game that has interested me for a while now, so I was glad to finally get a chance to pick this up for a much lower price on Black Friday. And I'm certainly glad I did, as this is a definitely one of the most interesting that I've played in some time.
Don't let the Square-Enix logo fool you; the folks at Platinum Games are the real people you should be thanking, as their trademark style shines through. For those who don't know, this is the developer studio behind the Bayonetta series and Vanquish, and is made up of people who worked on the Devil May Cry games, so you can typically expect some impressive action from them.
And they certainly do here, as despite being an RPG, the game plays as a fast-paced hack-and-slash, combined with elements of top-down shooters (think Galaga or Touhou), so combat is never boring. There's also a variety of weapons that you can play around with and decide what fits your fancy. In terms of difficulty, this will mostly depend on what you decide to set it to (I personally prefer just to coast on Easy), but based on what others have said, those looking for a challenge should be satisfied.
Story-wise, the game dips into some occasionally deep material, and isn't afraid to go rather dark, as the M-rating should imply. There's a lot of the "can machines be human?" themes that you'll see in a lot of sci-fi pieces, though the game has its own quirky and sometimes disturbing twists on the ideas. I can't really say too much without spoiling, but prepare to leave expectations at the door.
The graphics of the game are pretty good, though there are some slight framerate issues. It's nothing too major, at least, and you'll be passing through a lot of nice scenery as you progress through the game, serenaded by some excellent music tracks that range from soothing to haunting to just plain epic.
So yeah, in short, it's a pretty good time. I recommend it to anyone with a taste for RPGs and action games; if you like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Devil May Cry, or Bayonetta, you'll probably dig this game. For anyone on the fence, there is a demo in the Playstation Store that gives you the entire opening mission to run through; you'll know after finishing that if you want to dive into the full product.

A figure that's sexy and on a budget

For those who aren't aware, Amiibos are basically figures that come with DLC for various games on the current Nintendo systems. Some unlock stuff, while others offer small bonuses. The biggest draw is that a lot of them tend to be really nice figures of characters that either don't get merchandise, or what they get tends to be way too expensive for the average person.
That latter is definitely the case with the Bayonetta amiibo, since the only other options if you want a figure of this character will likely run you over a hundred bucks. Currently, her biggest use in a game is in Super Smash Bros., where she can unlock a computer-controlled character that you can train to fight against or alongside you.
The detail on this figure is very nice, as well. This is also probably the most risque amiibo released, due to Bayonetta's nature of posing dramatically and provocatively; it's pretty tame compared to what she does in her original games, but I don't exactly see this as a centerpiece in many children's collections. So this figure captures the look and style of the character perfectly.
There is also a second version of this character; this review is for the one based on her look from the first Bayonetta, while the other figure is based on the character's appearance in Bayonetta 2. I'm personally more of a fan of the classic look, but your own tastes may vary.

Inexpensive collectible for fans of the classic

For those new to the whole Amiibo thing, these are basically a combination of collectible figure and downloadable content (DLC). They tend to offer some sort of bonus to multiple games on the Nintendo Wii U, Switch, and New 3DS systems, often more if the amiibo is of a character from that particular game.
Currently, Cloud's biggest use is as a trainable computer-controlled fighter in Smash Bros, and will probably remain so unless a Final Fantasy-related game makes its way to one of Nintendo's systems anytime soon.
Still, as a figure, it's a very nice one. There's quite a bit of detail for a rather small figurine, and Cloud is decked out in his classic attire from Final Fantasy VII. Considering that most figures of this character are going to be expensive Japanese-produced ones, this is a pretty affordable choice for someone who doesn't want to break the bank. There's also a second figure of Cloud, sporting his clothing from Advent Children; I can't judge that one, though, as I do not have it myself. So I'd definitely suggest this if you're a fan of the character or the game.

Lots of in-game advantages for a low price

It's hard for me to really judge this character based on his level along, as I still have yet to play the game Chase originates from, Lego City Undercover.
Still, if you're wanting to play through Lego Dimensions by spending the least amount of money possible, Chase will probably give you the most bang for your buck. Once you unlock his costumes in his Adventure World, you'll have a whopping grand total of 16 abilities at your disposal, which will get you far in tracking down gold bricks and other goodies.
He also comes with a helicopter model, so you can easily cruise through a lot of levels by flying around with no limit. He's very much a "cheat code" type of character.

I'll be honest; I've never actually watched an episode of Knight Rider and mostly know of the series through random pop culture references. Still, I couldn't pass up the chance to have a Lego figure of David Hasselhoff for my collection.
The Adventure World level that comes with him in the game is a bit on the small side, but this shouldn't be surprisingly considering that the "Fun Pack" (a figure and small model) is the only one for this series within Lego Dimensions. Still, I imagine there's quite a few in-jokes that fans of the show will enjoy.
So I guess my recommendation for this particular set depends on if you're a fan of the show, a collector of all things Lego Dimensions, or if you're like me and just want classic 80s icons among your Lego hoard.
