Great cast of Jean-Paul Belmond, David Niven, Bourvil, and Eli Wallach. Eli Wallach is exceptionally good in this! It is directed by Gerard Oury, who made one of the most poplar movies in France, La Grande Vadrouille in 1966.
This collection of musicals from famed composers Rodgers & Hammerstein includes The Sound of Music, Carousel, The King and I, Oklahoma! (Todd-AO and CinemaScope versions), South Pacific (Theatrical and Extended "Road Show" versions) and State Fair (1945).
Director George Roy Hill wanted to make this movie with Julie Andrews, but Universal Pictures did not have the rights, MGM did. So He end up making "Throughly Modern Millie" instead. Four years later, Ken Russell made it with Twiggy who is perfect in the role. I own DVD, and the quality is good, but this newly transferred Blu-ray is the best!!
