This Asus PCE-N15 Wi-Fi adapter features a PCI Express interface for simple connection to your computer and provides quick access to an 802.11n wireless network by utilizing a reliable 2.4GHz wireless operating frequency.
Previously my Gateway desktop computer wi-fi card crashed and I replaced it with a Net Gear N600 Adapter (USB Thumb Drive). It worked, but not that well. I then replaced it with the Asus-802.11n PCI Express Wi-Fi Adapter. My down load speeds were worse than the Net Gear N600. Geek Squad did the install of the Asus at the store and told me it worked just fine. Well at my home it did not "work just fine." After hours and hours and hours on the phone at at the Bellingham, WA Best Buy store, and additional time on the phone with both Geek Squad using remote log in to test my computer, I was pulling out what was left of my hair. I had also spent hours on the phone with Comcast / Xfinity trying to determine the issue. Finally, I had a technician from Comcast out who spent two hours trying to figure out what was wrong. He switched out the Xfinity tower (black box) to one with dual functions (Their latest and greatest). The Asus still could not get beyond a 5 on the download speed. He tested the wi-fi with special equipment and it was just fine with very fast download times. We determined that the Asus adapter was the problem, but it cost only $29.00 and free install on my desktop so it was not worth spending two hours to go to Best Buy to have them remove it. Then we tried the NetGear N600 and it worked the way it should have in the first place after Xfinity replaced my tower / modem with a dual channel or whatever they call it. This product (Asus) may work for some others, but it did not work for me. Maybe it's just my unique circumstances. In general, I am extremely please with the Geek Squad staff and the Best Buy staff at the Bellingham, WA store as they did the best they could and my over all experience with them both has been most positive along with the Comcast folks. I don't know what reality is but everything is working great at this time. The result is positive for my needs. I guess you just have to have the patience to experiment with the hardware and isolate the possible issues. There seem to be too many variables to make any firm statements as to why it took all of this time and effort to get a positive result. The lesson learned is to be patient, try different things and get multiple people to help you until you resolve the challenge. It's simple and complex at the same time. Good luck to you.
