Hi, I'm needing a wireless reciever device to stream from my laptop to an older tv that is not hd, is this device what I need? If not what will work?
I also have a 42" HD flatscreen, so would like the device to work also on that tv for later use, is this possible? The particular tv that isn't a modern hd flat screen tv is just a really nice & big with a great picture quality still so see no need to get rid of it currently. My laptop is new with windows 8.1, which I like, but of course it is eligeable for the windows 10 free upgrade, so would need the streaming device to still work with windows 10. Thanks in advance.
An HDMI input port is required for the TV.

Does this and the other device need to be on the same wireless network?
I have read that other people have used this to stream from a phone or tablet to this device without a network. Does that only work if they are tethering from their device? I have an unlimited data plan and cannot tether or create a wireless hotspot.
They connect via 'WiDi' which does not use 'WiFi'. No wires were necessary between the 2 devices. It works from my tablet to the HDMI port without wires. WiDi stands for Wifi Direct between 2 devices.

Delete function?
Can you program this unit to delete any songs you do not want to hear?
I haven't tried to custom program this unit. But, my guess is no because I couldn't find a program button.

What is the difference between the Onkyo DXC 390 and the DXC 390B?
My impression is that the DXC 390B is an improvement on the DXC 390 which had many software problems and numerous complaints. And that the "B" is not just a reference to the color of the case.
I don't know the differences. I haven't noticed any problems with DXC 390.

Is this CD player compatable with my Vizio 5.1 surround sound system?
I have a Vizio 5.1 sound bar with 2 sat speakers and subwoofer for my TV, but will this CD player hook up and play through my sound system and if not, which CD player will?
I think if the TV has RCA or optical input jacks then you can hook up that way. This CD player has both RCA and Optical output jacks.

Yes, it has random play from both the unit and the remote.

Does a cd player play cd's better than a dvd/blu-ray player ?
I don't know if it plays bettor but it has more functionality like multi cds, repeat, and random.
