I purchased this item after returning the Rocketfish brand due to poor instructions and incompatible hardware. The Sanus was the same price (on sale) and had much better instructions. I used it to mount my Samsung Curved 65" UHDTV. My only complaint is the cheap plastic knobs used to lock the tilting feature in place.

Can both the case and phone be charged while the phone is in the case.
Yes. I never take my phone out of the case. If you do, you run the risk of breaking or bending the plug which goes into the phone.
