I needed a second monitor that rotates 90 degrees for portrait views of legal size & letter size docs, as well as copy paste of text between monitors. i had it turned 90 deg in my initial set up, it worked correctly immediately. really a plug & play setup. I am using it with windows 8.1, I did not need to download any software. I had previously returned a USB monitor that was incompatible with 8.1.
also it has good resolution of aerial maps & photo's. The 5:4 ratio monitor is not really meant for movies, but I did not purchase it for that.
