By day three this computer was failing me badly

Upon opening the box, I thought, wow - what a great looking machine. The packaging was really great and the laptop was "beautiful". Charging it and using It for the first time was a great experience. With a full charge, the battery lasted over 9 hours - wow. I really liked the speed with its 16Gb RAM and 500Gb SSD. However, I noticed from the beginning a variation in the video's brightness. The laptop was in my dining room on the table with the lights on yet the monitor's brightness started getting dim and then bright and back and forth. That was day one after a full charge. I let the battery fully charge once again (over night) and got back to the computer the next day. However, day two brought more problems. First, the audio stopped working with a notice saying to run an app to fix the audio. I did and thought it was fixed. The video brightness did more and more of its oscillations and the battery only lasted about 6 - 6.5 hours max. After doing another full charge on the battery, day three started. Audio stopped working again with the same notice from the computer. Video continue to do its fancy brightness oscillation once again, and the battery lasted a maximum of 4 hours. I updated both video and audio drivers from the HP website with the same results later on. I finally made the decision to take the computer back and try again.
The store was excellent. They gave me the option to do pretty much what I wanted to do. I chose to NOT repurchase another HP identical system.
Several things I really liked (originally) about the HP laptop included:
1. Keyboard layout and large trackball/mouse pad
2. Great amount of RAM (16 Gb)
3. Really fast SSD
4. Keyboard's tactile feedback - really responsive.

So, would I recommend this computer to someone else? Hum, that's a hard question. If they didn't have the problems I had then yes. However, I think HP needs to put some more effort into the video and audio drivers and clear up their problems. Perhaps PUSH a fix out to the computers so that customer's won't have the same negative experiences I had. Of course, something else was going on regarding the battery and perhaps HP needs to reevaluate the batteries' manufacturer but that's beyond my level of expertise.

A long cable that gets the job done

What can be said about a cable? This one is long enough to reach where you need it to reach. Plug it into the charger at the wall and sit back in your recliner and use the iPad or whatever other Apple product you're charging. The cord is heavier than the shorter cables which is good because it's better protected.

I'm new to "prime" lenses in the dslr world am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. My wife originally bought me the 35mm lens for Christmas and then I exchanged it for the 50mm lens. However, I take more closeup shots of flowers etc. and the 50mm won't let you get in real close. After doing some more research and talking to the great folks at Best Buy, I decided this 40mm macro lens was for me. Great decision. I love it and would recommend it to a friend. My only complaint is that it's a f2.8 rather than an f1.8 but hey, one can't have it all. The price was excellent. My next lens will be the 85mm lens.

The Intel 530 Series SSD is one of the most stable SSD's on the market. I've tried several SSDs from other manufactures' and have had mixed reviews regarding both performance and stability. The Intel SSD has always proven to be the best choice for all environments (whether Laptop, Desktop, primary drive, secondary drive, or backup drive). The 240 Gb 530 Series SSD hasn't let me down. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a fast and stable platform.

What is the best solid state drive upgrade for MacBook 13 inch late 2009?
I believe the Intel 530 Series SSD should work fine for you. You will have to contact Apple regarding data transfer/cloning software to clone your operating drive to your new SSD. Carbon Copy Cloner might be a solution for you but you will need to check that out.
