Great Family Fun

Loved the music, loved the story, loved the singing!
Particularly up and coming talent Tori Kelly, and some unknown actress named Scarlett Johansson ...I predict big things for both of them. ;-)
1080p image quality was stunningly upconverted onto my 4K Samsung display, with the 3D adding enhanced depth throughout, and particularly exciting during a scene where a building collapses.
Multi-channel audio was quite active, with sounds of a live concert & audience made believable. An active LFE rumbled the house during a pivotal scene. Audio and video was balanced and encompassing so as to provide additional level of reality, drawing the viewer into the story.
Great family production all around!

Easy to configure & fantastic image quality

This is, what I expect will be my final Samsung SmartCam HD Pro Wireless High-Definition Security Camera purchase. Final, not because the cameras have issues, but 'final', in that I have each of these covering the desired area of my home.
I chose to upgrade to these 'fixed position' Samsung's SmartCam HD after my years of experience using 'articulated' Foscam branded cameras. While the Foscams worked well enough, I found that their field of view was too narrow, and while the price was far less, I found that my failure rate of Foscam product to be rather high.
This is not the case with the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro Wireless High-Definition Security Cameras.
The wide field of view for these cameras eliminates the need to have a camera that I can remotely pan or tilt. The clarity of the images is top notch, and while the cameras are not rated for use out of doors (as was my previous camera), I have managed to mount one, outside, deep underneath the overhang of my front porch.
I find the SmartCam HD Pro Wireless High-Definition Security Camera to be superior in almost every way, with few exceptions.
I have no simple way to remotely access, and offload captured images or video. To do this, I must physically remove the MicroSD card from the camera, changing the alignment in the process of doing so. I have begun to research to see if anyone has discovered a way to FTP into the camera, so that content may be copied off and archived.
In addition to this, the power cable is fairly short for most placements. An optional power extension cable would be fantastic!
Other than that, these are a major step up. I have coverage over my entire front porch, garage, basement, and yard/patio, and I have it all integrated nicely into SmartThings.

As prop replicas go, I have found no better.
As universal remote controls go well, ...it would have been better off left as a simple high quality prop replica.
Sounds, lights and the ability to remove the hand-phaser from the pistol grip for authenticity harkening back to the original classic series.
At $150 - it isn't for everyone.

Animated Trek of my youth, better than ever

as a child, I was excited to see and hear my favorite Star Trek characters back on the small screen. I forgave the poor quality animation, as well as missing Checkov (Walter Koenig). I thought the stories were good at the time.
Viewing through the eyes of an adult, I have really come to appreciate the stories, many written by original series scribes, and how well the stories played out. It made me wish that Paramount had found a way to produce a live action weekly television series back in the day.
Audio and Video quality is surprisingly good given the age.

A great place to start

The SmartThings Home Monitoring Starter Kit gives buyers an excellent starting place with the basics.
It includes;
1 - SmartThings Bridge
1 - Plug Outlet
2 - Multi-sensor/Door Sensors
1 - Motion Sensor

1 - Motion Sensor
The bridge is Z Wave and ZigBee compatible, so it communicates with a wide variety of home automation products (various sensors, controls, lights, remotes, cameras, sirens, locks etc.). Basically one bridge to rule them all.
The multi-sensor modules can be used as "open/close" sensors for doors or windows, but can also be triggered by vibration (intrusion detection) caused by breaking glass or someone knocking. In addition to the above, they can be configured as garage door sensors, reporting back on the position of conventional panel garage doors.
The motion sensors are small an unobtrusive, about the size of a square tin of breath mints.
Both the multi-sensor and motion sensors have integrated temperature sensors which can report back temps around the house for triggering heating, cooling, or alert the property owner to possible failing environmental systems. I suspect they could also play a role in zone heating/cooling for larger household systems, or the interesting "Smart-vents" that can be added throughout the house.
All of the above are powered by standard CR2450 coin-style lithium cells, which should last many months and may be bought in bulk through online resellers.
The wall-plug is a quick and easy way to add smart/remote control to non-smart lights or appliances. I used mine to turn on the Christmas tree lights every day at sunset, and off again, at predetermined times depending upon the day of the week.
All of the above ties nicely into smart home assistants such as Google Home, or Amazon Echo.
I continue to tweak and expand the system. It has been integrated into my Philips Hue lighting system, my Logitech Harmony remote control system, and most recently, a GoControl Z Wave garage door opener module. I can check the status, open & close the garage door from anywhere with internet connectivity, or totally geek out and say something such as "Open the pod bay door".
There are many such Z Wave systems, but this starter kit is an excellent starting place. It sells at between $200-$250. I scored one at only $150 on a black Friday sale.

How far from the router can the camera be placed? I want to put it in my kennel, 200 feet from router.
there are too many variables to answer this with any certainty.
Does the 200 feet consist of;
Open space?
Walls, and if so what type (brick, plaster, drywall ...are the studs wood or metal)?
Floors, and if so at what angle (traversing beams and joists at angles compound signal loss)?
Furniture?
RF interference (cellular, microwave ovens, cordless phones, RF remotes, etc.)?
Taking all of that into account, I would say that 200 feet would be at best, problematic without implementing a wifi extender, or one of the newer mesh wifi products from Google, NetGear or Asus.

I thought that this sensor only detects if something is open but on this site it states that it can send an alert if someone knocks on the door. How does it do this?
it detects an open or closed status when in proximity of the included magnet.
It senses temperature of the surface that it is mounted to.
It senses vertical and horizontal orientation (for garage door open/closed) status.
...and it senses vibration as a result of someone attempting forced entry, or knocking upon the door.

The statement below's misleading, or 1/2 truth, I can't see how this would make a temperature change w/out a smart thermostat...."Plus, the sensor monitors the temperature and triggers your thermost"...never is smart thermostat mentioned. Clarity please?
it is a sensor, nothing more and nothing less. It senses an open/close status when installed opposite the included magnet. It senses the orientation (vertical/horizontal) to report on the open/close status of a garage door. It reports vibration, such as a knock on the door, or attempt to force entry through a door or window.
aaaaand it reports the temperature.
All of the above can be integrated into various other smart applications or devices such as the EcoBee Smart Themostat, and GoControl's garage door opener control module, but on it's own, it only senses and reports. It does not control.
