Yeahhhh, I'm gonna need you to just go ahead and come back for the P series...mkay.
I bought the S series b/c of the price. I returned it for this one not only for the price, but the value. After purchasing the S series, I went back to Best Buy to find a soundbar. During that trip I took a ganders at the P series on display and noticed that it was noticably just better than the other displays around it that were equally priced and some up to 3x more expensive. I thought it was in my head, but after going home and doing my research, it wasn't. Apparently this tv is the steal of the year in 2017. I returned the S series the very next day and got this one. At $599, I can't even explain how much better it is than the S series which don't get me wrong, is a good TV at the $330-$370 price range. But this is a great TV for just a couple hundred dollars more which was still in my price range so I went for it. I mean if you're gonna have a TV, you want to be happy with it. I'm one for value so this fits the bill. Color is rich and rivals many of the in store demos of the alleged higher end tvs. The only bummer is it doesn't have the enhanced Roku remote that the P607 TV has. It has the regular Roku IR remote. But, that wasn't a deal breaker for me. It's $51 cheaper than the P607 with the enhanced remote. Best Buy only sells the P605 so I guess that's a moot point. Regardless, I read some reviews of people disliking the remote. I LOVE this Roku remote (and the Roku Interface is unmatched; I don't think I'll ever want another TV without it). The beauty is the simplicity of it. The 55" P series is slim with a nice side profile. The TV is slimmer than the S-series by a good amount. The box is thinner than the S-series, too, so it actually was easier to fit in my car for the drive home. Plus the feet are chrome colored on the P series as opposed to a silver color with the S series. The picture quality is superior. All the ports are on the right side of the TV which worked better for my setup since I have an antenna incorporated in my setup to get HD network TV. The antenna is closer to the window, with the coax input on the right side. However, I think there's something else going on with this TV in terms of being able to access more channels through the antenna. I couldn't get PBS 1, 2 and 3 with the S series tv. Using this same exact antenna, I get those stations and they are flawless. The picture quality is rich and enjoyable. Luxurious if you will. It's a really nice experience. Plus, I've NEVER experienced a lag while streaming or using the antenna. It's so awesome. I watch a lot of live sports and espn through Roku with Watch ESPN, and I had a ton of lag with the S series TV. I have the same exact internet connection with this TV, a paltry 7 mbps DSL connection, and it feels like I have a 100 mbps connection with this TV. I'm ethernet hardwired in through the back of the TV to wring out everything I can from the 7 mbps, and I stream everything and this TV has never lagged in any streaming service. It's like night and day compared to the S-series. So not only is the picture quality better but this one also supports Dolby Vision HDR AND Dolby Digital Plus Audio which is totally noticeable. The Sony HT-CT790 soundbar that I went with supports Dolby Digital Plus DTS through the HDMI inputs so it's a great pairing. You just get so much more quality with the P series than the S series that if you have the couple hundred extra I'd seriously consider getting the P over the S. It's faster in every regard and has premium picture and audio. No brainer purchase.

4K player choice was between this and the Samsung wired. I went with this b/c it was $10 cheaper on sale, and I have a Roku TV so I don't need the apps in the Samsung. Plus I read the Samsung one runs a little noisy. My previous blu-ray player was a Samsung Blu-Ray. It broke within the year and I had to get it warrantied and pay for shipping the replacement. Lame. I've had several LG products and never had one issue. They have all lasted a long time and proven to be reliable. Easy choice here. The LG 4K player runs quiet, is snappy, high quality and looks nice.

Got two of them when they were the deal of the day. They are worth it. Super high quality. Gold plated connectors for resistance to corrosion. Gauge is on the thicker side. I definitely feel like they help bring out the best in my 4K UHD setup. Quality HDMI here.

If all you have is $10 for an HDMI cable, you can't go wrong. Even better if you score it as a deal of the day...then if all you have is $8 you can get 2 of them...The build quality is just fine. It is current and supports 4K UHD no sweat. High speed with ethernet. Good stuff.

For years people had been clamoring for the release of the '80s classic The Goonies on DVD. Featuring a cast of crazy and kooky characters, director Richard Donner's fantasy-filled children's tale comes to DVD in an edition worthy of One Eyed Willie's gold. Warner has done a spectacular job cleaning up the anamorphic 2.35:1 print, making colors look exciting and alive. Sloth and Chunk have never looked so clean and concise! Black levels are solid and there is a minimum of edge enhancement. To say the least, this is the best The Goonies has ever looked, and Warner gets high praise for doing a terrific job on the transfer. Audio is presented in a new Dolby Digital 5.1 remix, and although it's not as impressive as other remixes, this one does a great job of enveloping the viewer in the world of The Goonies. All the speakers are used during many action sequences, and dialogue, effects and Dave Grusin's hyperactive music score are all crisp and clear. Also featured are Dolby Surround 2.0 tracks in English and French, as well as a Dolby Mono 1.0 track in Spanish. Finally there are subtitles in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. Many fans will be happy to know that Warner has put much time and effort into including some great supplemental features. A video/audio commentary track with all seven original Goonies plus Richard Donner is both amusing and nostalgic. Warner splices scenes from the movie with images from the recording session to bring fans a unique and interesting commentary track by the stars of the movie. "The Making of the Goonies" is a 1985 promotional documentary that includes interviews with cast and crew, as well as behind-the-scenes glimpses of the production. A two-part Cyndi Lauper video for the song "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" entertains with guest stars such as pro wrestlers "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and the Iron Sheik. Directed by Richard Donner, this video is a riot to watch, and the song is unexpectedly catchy. Finally there is an anamorphic theatrical trailer along with some deleted outtakes featuring the infamous "Octopus" scene, mentioned in the film but rarely seen by fans. Drooling fans of this classic kids film will be ecstatic to get their hands on some great extra features, a nice transfer, and finely mixed audio tracks. In the words of Cyndi Lauper, The Goonies certainly 'R' good enough!

HEY YOU GUYS! I got this for my with for Christmas b/c she had never seen it which is blasphemy. She enjoyed this 80's gem . My only gripe is that I wanted it in Blu-Ray, but my local BB only had it in DVD. So I'm taking it back...I'm taking 'em all back.

Printer/Copier/Scanner. NO FAX. Works flawlessly via USB. USB CABLE IS NOT INCLUDED which almost caused me to knock it down a star and not a very cool move by Canon since THIS IS A USB PRINTER and all. Fortunately, I had a USB A-B cable lying around which I haven't used for years but came with a Canon scanner I purchased in 1998. Scanner is long gone, but the cable lives on! Included Ink will get you through several copies. Only worth it if you already have the USB A-B cable in my opinion. If you don't have one get the wireless version of this ($14 more). The difference in price is what it would cost for you to get a USB A-B cable anyway. Lol. Oh Canon...

Got this for my mom on sale at Best Buy. She needed a new laptop since her previous Toshiba cheapo junk finally stopped working. This was a solid replacement. My only gripe is it takes darn near 48 hours to set up due to the constant and incremental updates to Windows 10 version 1709. I'm not joking. I'm the tech in the family, and I spent 2 days setting this up for her letting it download and install between two days at my day job. Unreal. I couldn't believe it. But if you can get past the initial setup (which I'm guessing is painstakingly slow due to 1960's hdd 5400rpm technology), this computer is worth it. My mom is a real estate agent, not tech savvy, just web browsing and word docs, and she's very happy with the upgrade. Her previous Toshiba was a Celeron w/ 4GB onboard. Ugh. I replaced the keyboard twice for her and after the second replacement stopped working it was time. This upgrade to the 7th gen i3 with 8GB is like night and day for her. Once you get past the 2 day setup, it runs very smooth. Audio has a good amount of volume and clarity. Picture is 720p with 15.6" touchscreen and HD webcam. For $349 + tax I'd say it's worth it. Some reviewers claim to have got it for $300. Definitely worth it then. But that inital setup...ouch. A lesson in patience. If you have the budget opt for something with a SSD. I can't speak about the battery life since my mom just leaves it plugged in on her desk, but I imagine it's pretty decent. The build quality is nice and study. Has a good feel when typing.

I use Windows Defender

I've received a complimentary one of these cds with the last few laptop purchases at Best Buy. I've never once used it. I'm sure it's excellent, but it's also a paid antivirus, antimalware after the initial trial period is up. Defender is free, and I've found it to be all I need to protect my laptop. I know McAfee makes the computer much slower, as I would imagine every paid antivirus software does to make you feel like it's actually doing something. I'm sure this one is no different. My recommendation is just stick with the free windows defender and check for updates daily and run a quick scan daily. Like a digital vitamin.

Disappointing

I am comparing this to an HP Pavillion 360 2-1 m3-u103dx since I also wrote a review on that laptop, and they are both in a similar price range with similar specs. I figured this would be an upgrade from the Pavillion for about the same price as the Pavillion. But here's the straight dope on this one for those so inclined. The Pavillion won for me. Here is why. I love the Pavillion, but what got me to take a chance on the Dell Inspiron 7000 series are the things that allegedly would make this more "future proof" with the usb c port, windows ink compatibility, windows hello feature, the 256gb ssd in addition to the positive reviews albeit a limited sample size since this is a newer release. Well, the "future proof" things may be cool, but the "present things" need a lot of work or maybe it's possible that the Inspiron I received was defective. First off it's never a positive sign when you press the on button right after unboxing and nothing happens. Already a bad sign. These laptops are supposed to have at least 30-50% charge on unboxing. This had none. So I plugged it in and it jumped to 99% charged in about 5 minutes. Also not a good sign. It took about 2 hours to install Windows which is way too long.
The continued experience did not improve on the initial hiccups.
I found this laptop extremely laborious and exhausting to use:
1) The touchpad is terrible. It has a grainy feel and scrolls poorly. And believe me, I tried every touchpad setting, permutation and algorithm in the knowledge base, and I just could not get it to function as a touchpad should.
2) The CPU lags with the annoying pointer circle. Plus, it froze at times. Drove me nuts!
3) The HD Display is subpar. It is grainy and hard on the eyes.
4) The Maxx Audio is subpar. There are no preset equalizers. The speakers are on the bottom near the front on each side, and the interface is sterile. Not even close to the quality of the Bang & Olufsen HP speakers on the Pavillion as well as the mocha interface. It is stylish and functional.
This is all disappointing b/c the build is really nice. It has a really firm feel in the hands. I didn't really like typing on it though. Not like I do on the Pavillion. The fan was pretty loud for the two hours that it was installing Windows, but not annoying. It was tolerable, and it didn't really come on again after the installation even while streaming video so yay. Touchscreen worked fine. Hence the 2 stars.
All of these things are better on the Pavillion. These are basic computing requirements that make usability pleasurable and are lacking on the Inspiron regardless of the "future proofness" of it. It is no bueno in my opinion. It was like pulling teeth the use, but I may have had a dud. I'll never know, but I just returned it and got a refund rather than do an exchange and have Best Buy flag me for 90 days if the exchange also was a lemon (thus preventing me from returning a lemon). I'll just stick with my stylish and fully functional Pavillion for now I suppose even though it doesn't have windows ink or windows hello, has half the ssd space and no usb c port. Oh well, win some, lose some. It's still better than this laptop in every other way that counts. This was a disappointing, fatiguing experience. My advice is to look elsewhere or take a gamble on this one. I'll never know if mine was truly defective or this is par for the course for this Inspiron.

Bang & Olufsen & Bang for the Buck!

This laptop has the EXACT same specs as the current generation base model MBP (June 2017 release) at a third of the price. I was blown away when I saw it online and just so happened to click on an email from best buy about a president's day sale (which is weird since it's the last week of July). Nevertheless, I just joined the Virgin Mobile Inner Circle by purchasing a gold 32GB iPhone SE. The first thing that got me when I stumbled across this listing in the sale was the gold case matches my SE. Then I saw 13.3". Then I say core i5-7200u. Then I saw 8GB RAM. Then I saw 128GB SSD and Intel HD Graphics 620 and backlit keyboard, 1080HD display, HD webcam, touchscreen and 360 degree flip to tablet mode. Then I looked at the sale price. I thought it was too good to be true. $529 + tax I couldn't believe it. There were still some left at both stores. Then the closer store sold out. So I took the drive after thinking it over for 24 hours. Glad I did. It was the answer to my prayers. I was about to drop $1300 + tax on an overpriced MBP. That would've been a mistake since this laptop has the same main specs and then tops the mbp with touchscreen and all the ports still intact whereas a mbp is too cool for ports now yet we all still use them so for mbp users you need to get a bunch of silly adapters fpr the usb c ports. I don't. I was a staunch mac user for 15 years, but jumped over to pc to save $. Mind you, conversion either way is not for the faint of heart since it does take a commitment to make sure that all your data is properly formatted for your new platform. However, I do have to say, that PCs have stepped up their game in the past couple of years This laptop is a testament to that. And for those of you in the reviews who said the fan was loud and it got hot. Oh please. My mid 2014 mbp, said by many to be the pinnacle of mbps was like 2 or 3 degrees from burning my house down just simply streaming Sling TV. STREAMING SLING TV! You could hear the fan from across the room! Even when the outside temperature was cold. Not to mention my previous (AND LAST mbp) would crash WHILE streaming Sling tV numerous times yet my wife's $150 toshiba could stream Sling just fine to the HDTV through the HDMI port. All macs have done that from my very first iBook G3, Powerbook G4, Macbook, and the 4 mbps I have owned throughout my 15 year tenure as a mac enthusiast. Macs run loud and they run hot. Very hot. My last mbp was very hot AND very loud. This one is no where near that noisy or hot. Not even close. It may have occasional scantly audible fan noise and get mildly warm but nothing even close to what my macs did. And from what I've read, the new mbps can't even get their butterfly keys to all type at the same pitch b/c apparently they run so hot they are popping the keys! This HP laptop is the best laptop I have ever owned in terms of value. On sale, the amount of bang for the buck here is almost unheard of. It is pure form AND function. Maybe that's why I like it so much. It's what macs have always strived to be...it is sleek, stylish, sexy AND highly functional and efficient and it makes all of it look easy. The first full charge of my battery has lasted me almost all day. I have the display at 20%, sometimes 30% with the backlit keys on only when I need to see some of the keys in the dark. Through streaming videos, web surfing, restarts, updates, word processing etc. It is super fast. I am very pleased. Best laptop. I think my mac friends are going to have pc envy...oh and the touchpad is awesome and the keys have a GREAT feel to them. They feel like my old Powerbook G4 keys. SIlky smooth. It has that same feel even though they are island keys. They feel velvety smooth. Typing is a pleasure with this laptop. If you are on the fence about this one, I say if it's on sale, pull the trigger. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and just a tip. Use the opera browser on PCs. It is the best browser I have found. It has a great pop up blocker and battery saver features that are non existent in other browsers I have used. The ad blocker is an amazing feature and makes web browsing the way it should be. speedy. Plus the build quality is superb. The hinges are quality and the display doesn't do a lot of jumping around when I type since the hinges are strong. It is pure quality. The Bang and Olufsen speaker system is very loud. But a good loud. Halfway is loud enough. My previous laptop PC's speakers were pretty quiet so it's nice to get some quality audio again. 1080p display is crisp and responsive.
