A fitting end to a mediocre trilogy.

The Hobbit Trilogy has been a mixed bag. Mostly overstuffed, overly stylized, but with some fun scenes. Peter Jackson is barely able to keep his needlessly sprawling story together. It would literally take less time to read The Hobbit than to watch these three films.
This final film is nothing more than a protracted battle sequence to wrap the three films up. It's thrilling at times, but it's mostly tedious. Bilbo as a character takes a backseat to all the action in the film and that's kind of a shame seeing how this series was supposed to be about his journey. Somewhere along the line, PJ forgot That The Hobbit in question was Bilbo and that these movies were supposed to be his story. He was clearly more interested in making a Lord of the Rings prequel than an adaptation of The Hobbit. All that said, none of these movies are without their moments and can be enjoyed for what they are.

Fun Space Opera

Marvel continues it's successful track record with a super-fun space opera. I'll be brief. To non-comic fans, the plot won't make much sense, but the writing keeps it fun and fresh and the charismatic cast doesn't disappoint. The movie is fun, funny, breezy and definitely delivers in the action department. The script kind of feels like it was written Marvel Cinematic Universe Mad Libs (_____ took the _____ to the ______ that will destroy the ______ if _______ doesn't stop and he/she learns a little about what it means to be a hero in the process). That's OK, it never fails to be funny and not take itself too seriously.
You AND your kids will have a great time.
